Nobody is going to buy it because it costs too much but I think some corporate sectors like medical professionals and real estate agents will be ecstatic if it works well.

And the porn industry. Gaming-wise I really don't expect VR to take off before at least three years from now when the hardware to run it is more commonplace and developers can plan for games that will take advantage of it and not just use it as a selling gimmick.

Yeah. It's something that games will definitely be using at some point, but companies are jumping on it way too soon.

But it's got real-world applications even in the state it's in.

Mostly porn. VR porn is already a thing in Japan to a certain extent.

It's coming one way or another, however many issues still need to be worked out, particularly latency and judder. This guy has written a lot about it: http://blogs.valvesoftware.com/author/mabrash/

The difficulty is, these problems are not easily solved, so companies are solving both the "guinea pig" and "cost" sides of VR by throwing out alpha versions for people to buy. Similar to Google Glass, these first versions will not be commercial successes, and will be sold for idiotic prices; but still provide a LOT of very valuable data to R&D departments WHILE having people pay for the privilege to provide real life data. Then maybe 10 years later we'll see commodity versions of these products.

My only worry for VR is that these initial public tests will go real poorly and the business types will decide it's not worth pursuing.

Probably not gonna happen. They might get turned off from gaming, but even in the state it's in at this very second, it's worthwhile in some industries. That alone will fund development and research into it, and eventually someone will take a stab at VR games again.

I actually can't recall any previous Vita updates duff enough to get a Kotaku article after its release. With that said, I would expect a bug-fix patch soonish (as in, before the end of February).

As for the battery drain, apparently the primary reason is that the Vita no longer disconnects from Wifi once connected, so the workaround for now would be to switch it off when you're not using it.

The latest firmware locks you out of the store if you factory restore. Usually this is performed by people wanting to use DLC on import games.

Factory resetting it when you can't access the store means that you can't link your account and get locked out of your digital games.

Had it drain down with Cold Steel running in background when suspending while on flight mode. So it's not just that. Something else is off. That said, rebuilding database helped at least the store problems.

I am having that store problem and I never factory restored my system. It just happened after the latest update. I tried rebuilding the database because some people said that worked for them but it didn't for me.
