Is it a translation thing and this is just 100% of his 5%? EDIT: Changed because now that I think about it, the important part is that there's a stark difference between the two, unlike muscleman who got to do both at once. So I just noticed, in the splash page of the heroes vs villains, Shoji isn't there. They've got basically every other person out there who's intending to fight, including the B-Class students who aren't leaving, and Tokoyami's there too, so Shoji being missing is odd. Was it actually his arm that we saw last chapter? I might just be reading into things, but it seemed like a notable exception to me.

Mr. Fowl posted:This seems likely. I was under the impression that his 100% was an All-Might class punch, which led me initially to believe this guy was in All-Might's league to tank that. It's obvious now that there's a lot more power to draw on. Assuming he doesn't turn himself into ground meat first. I imagine that the biggest reason All Might would still relatively easily own this guy is that All Might is ridiculously fast. While muscle guy is also fast, I don't think he's "appears to be a blur" fast like All Might. Because Midoriya isn't nearly that fast, he had no choice but to try and directly break through muscle guy's defenses. All Might, on the other hand, could probably both avoid his defenses with his speed or just destroy his defenses with a bunch of super fast punches. It seems to me like a really big "upgrade" for Deku would be to focus on his speed, since his punches are already strong enough to handle any villains that don't have defense-related powers (or powers that can grant a strong defense, like muscle guy).

Also, All-Might is 600lbs of muscle, while Deku is just a skinny kid.

Does anyone else think this is getting a bit, I dunno, torture porn-y? I mean I still enjoy this manga and Deku is certainly awesome as hell, but there seems to be a constant escalation as to just how incredibly torn up this kid can get. Break both legs and an arm! Splinter the bones in his hand! Take a dozen bombs to the face! Fall off buildings! Get slammed into cliffsides! Reduce both arms to bags of jelly! Jeez. Evel Knievel has nothing on him.

You kinda need the pain to sell him powering-up, otherwise he just gets stronger when dramatically appropriate and WHOOP there goes the tension.

Oh sure, it's just getting repetitious. It's like people on police dramas constantly getting shot in the shoulder. I hope the mangaka has more in his wheelhouse than "Deku needs to act heroic again. What body part shall I pulverize this time?"

A good chapter but i'm a bit disappointed the story of the fight was that Deku goes over the limit of what he can do with one for all to defeat a superior opponent and kills his arms in the process, because I find it pretty similar to his whole fight with Todoroki which was Deku's last major one-on-one battle. It was still a cool fight and all but man I hope he stops shattering his arms soon, he needs those.

The arm the Cenobite found was actually Deku's arm; he's going to punch someone so hard soon, his arm not only flies off, but it travels into the past.

If you pay attention closely. Deku shoves his hands into the Fibers that serve as the guys shield. He then did that thing were he opens up his fingers with a ton of force to knock away the fibers protecting the guy so he could sock him in the face. Pretty much he peeled away the villains shield then punched him.

The guy was never really hiding his face most of the time anyways. He has it uncovered for most of the preceding pages so he could taunt Kouta about killing him next, then he turns back and realizes that there's something different about Deku, who then punches him. His off-hand isn't even in the guy's mass anymore when he does so and Deku appears to have used it to push him back a ways to get room to swing or something. We also never see where the punch connects. There's really no point in Deku talking about hitting using 1,000,000% power after a flashback to All Might talking about hitting with more than 100% of himself if he's just hitting the villain in a more sensitive place. tsob fucked around with this message at 12:56 on Jan 31, 2016 |

The clean korean scans do make it clear--he blasted him with air pressure using his fingers+hand, and then hit him directly with a punch. Futae no Kiwami ahhhhhhhhhh That might explain where he got the 1,000,000 percent number from, since he was hitting him with 100% of his max power several times almost simultaneously. The mangastream "cleaning" job really did a good job of hiding how utterly ruined Deku's right arm and hand is. It's just loving wrecked.

God the Chinese and Korean scanlators do so much better at cleaning. Also I like that 4chan of all places beats everyone to translating it to English because there's enough people that like this series to the point they got 3 guys who can translate it immediately depending on if the Chinese, Korean, or Japanese scans drop first.
