Also after much analysis of the new lockbox I think I've narrowed down the most desirable thing: The Tholian escort (because I can slap a torp build on it without blinking).

Fortunately they're only 4-5 mil on the exchange so I was able to get everything I wanted with zero fuss :toot:

Haven't upgraded it to T-5U though. I'll worry about that when I can be bothered getting another token.

It is down right now, our datacenter is getting hit with a massive DDoS attack. Should be back up once they mitigate the traffic.

Every day we’ll be giving away new C-Store items for Captains to enjoy. Every 24 hours, we’ll be giving out a different item (or even multiple), so be sure to grab these up!

To claim our T4 Ships ( Ar’kala Tactical Warbird / Puyjaq Class / Sao Paulo Tactical Escort Refit ):

1. Log into the game on a character between 10AM PST on Saturday January 30 and 10AM PST on Monday February 1.
2. Visit the in-game C-Store via the button on the minimap
3. Navigate to the ‘Ships’ tab on the left
4. Scroll down to and click on the ‘Ar’kala Tactical Warbird / Puyjaq Class / Sao Paulo Tactical Escort Refit” item
5. Click the “Claim” button towards the bottom-right of the interface
Typical.

They recycle text for these announcements all the time so you get poo poo like this constantly. That was originally written for a M-F thing so they didn't account for taking sunday off when they wrote it. You'd think they'd have a copy editor for it but this is game that doesn't have playtesters so...

Considering how much that payment system has reportedly been down and causing issues (like flagging Steam purchases), it's like they're desperately trying to sabotage the game so they can escape from it, not having the guts to end it properly.

I installed it on my phone, went to play the first mission and it crashed to my home screen.

So basically it's a perfect simulator of the MMO

The Star Trek: Timelines mobile game is quite literally almost that.

If we're going to talk about making STO something resembling actual fun for people besides broken star trek fans like most of us, then what should really happen is Starfleet Command 4 with STO's space combat and massively rebalanced boff powers. Because the space shooting in this game is actually pretty loving good, once you get past the layers of F2P bullshit.

STO's space combat is poo poo. Everyone just thinks it's good because we haven't had a good capital ship combat game in over a decade.

The fact that every ability can be put on a macro and you can mash your spacebar to victory isn't good at all.

Cutedge

Every time I think about it, I still think one of the major issues with STO's space combat is that your bridge officers should have 1 activated ability each and then have 2 or 3 passive abilities. Then they can actually design around that and try to make the activated abilities be interesting.

The other major major issue is that STO typically throws 4 or 5 ships at you instead of having 1 or 2 more powerful ships. Instead of a interesting ship battle it's just FAW at the entire group. Shield rebalancing is also too effective which makes movement much more trivial than it should be.

note: these ideas are probably terrible though.

You missed the part about "massive rebalances" in there. The flying around and weapon arc aspects are fine. Equipping different officers of different types for different occasions is fine (though none of us do that.) The powers and their use is not fine. So, rebalancing.

The core mechanics of the space game are pretty much the only good thing in STO, have been for a while, and are also pretty much the only thing goons agree on being good. I'd hesitate to call it capital ship combat in the slightest though. Then again, I'd hesitate to call Starfleet Command capship combat either.

You guys do some cool things, some not-cool but also not-serious things, and overall seem pretty fun. But over these last couple of years it just seems like here and on the official forums all you do is whine.

I remember when SFD was known for stuff like this - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pI8rvD_uM0U. Now it's all "Boo hoo. We have a channel. People are being unfair."

Knowing where it comes from and where those games have been going in the past it will be just as abusive, making you pay for every single fleet and maybe even special hero ships.

The space combat in Elite Dangerous is really loving good.

But a minimum amount of basic motor coordination is required so I can see why a lot of STO pubbies might never go near it.

I guess space combat in Star Citizen might be ok too but we'll worry about that in another couple years.

Some are, some aren't. Dreadnought looks slicker, but I think FS's gameplay is better right now. They'll meet in the middle by release. Though Dreadnought has some really wonky flight model issues, far wonkier than FS's.

Yeah, as already mentioned, your over flow bag space. Mine was bugged the first couple of days and finally I found my original 400 vouchers in the overflow when it started working again.

The Tarantula seems nice. You can run a Repro build on it, and if you stack partgens you can unleash an unholy amount of alpha with the web cannon. It has a big up front hit and 24 smaller hits and all of them can crit.
