I am on Commander. I come to these games expecting some bullshit, but this was 3 hours of it, supported by data with the AARs. I've rerolled an early mission a half dozen times at this point because my soldiers seemingly cannot hit the broad side of a loving barn, and enemies outnumber and will suicide rush me because they apparently sense that my soldiers cannot hit the broad side of a loving barn. The hit rate % thing is simply confirmation bias I think. As for poor short range accuracy, within the logic of this game that guy isn't simply standing to let you shoot him, he's moving around and dodging, him standing stock still is an abstraction. Also remember that the nature of this games rng seed means the same dice out of the same save, so if you take the same action after reloading you will get the same results. In xc1 you could even work out where the dice were landing. The first roll is around 70, the second roll must be down in the 30s. ShineDog fucked around with this message at 10:41 on Feb 5, 2016 |

As far as performance issues go I have some chop but it's nothing game-ruining, obviously I'd like it to be better but I was worried I'd be getting like 20 FPS. It mostly seems to chug during transitional cutscenes, the actual gameplay seems mostly unaffected.

the only thing more bullshit than all three pods on the terror mission lurking one hex into dash range (and one of them not firing a shot until i stumbled into them despite civilians everywhere so as to hide) is the bullshit that is advent stun lancer AI knowing where all the civs are and immediately dash moving to kill one every turn once activated, not even considering engaging xcom but it turns out that when you get hopping mad after taking a casualty and decide that with 2 of your 3 guys having swords you might as well just stab literally everyone you get a 100% accuracy rating on the mission why are specialists such bullet magnets

Does Xcom 2 have Second Wave options ? In the DefaultGameCore.ini there is a Second Wave option which you can set to 0/1, but it does nothing. I really want something akin to Not Created Equal and Hidden Potential, there is also a stat range for new soldiers in the same file with these values: LOW_AIM=55 HIGH_AIM=75 LOW_MOBILITY=11 HIGH_MOBILITY=13 LOW_WILL=25 HIGH_WILL=60 Pretty much the same as it was in Xcom when you had the Second Wave options turned on. But how do I activate them ?

Six games is a pitifully tiny sample size for trying to draw conclusions, especially if you're casting aspersions on the way the game is actually displaying things instead of you getting a run of bad luck. I've played games of BattleTech where I roll eight sets of snake eyes and only one boxcars, that doesn't mean my dice are improperly weighted (well, that doesn't mean anything by itself), it means that poo poo happens.

After the initial adjustment period and getting a grasp on newer game mechanics (I somehow skipped over the tooltip that tells you Rangers can do their dash attack melee every round), Commander is challenging but definitely rewarding. It's just got a lot of nasty surprises that can dump all over the player - Captains marking and then firing on the same target seem to XCOM2's Thin Men.

You've played those, however, over the course of many years, and had numerous counter examples in between. This is six times in a row without any counter examples in between. This is not the same thing. I really do not think it is a large leap to suspect something weird in the opaque system you're using when you're getting such wildly different results from the expectation. This is not a d6 that you can see. This is an opaque system that you PRESUME is working correctly. For my purposes, I intend to verify cache and try again tomorrow, but tonight's first outing was definitely the worst XCOM experience I've ever had. And I played Enforcer, dammit.

Well so what's the alternative here if "you've experienced a statistically plausible amount of bad luck" doesn't sit right with you then, that your copy of the game has some kind of hidden RNG malfunction that so far nobody else seems to be experiencing? I'm not denying your frustration but if this really is a bug it doesn't sound like one a lot of other people are running into.

I moved my grenadier and immediately told her to reload. Upon which she said "boom" did a fire grenade animation at nothing, used up her last grenade, and did not reload. I'm convinced this is because right as I tapped r to reload bradford did a little dialogue about the rail network or whatever that took away my control for a second.

I'm afraid that not being hit so much as once (despite marks and half cover) in the power core mission is just the game being busy in the background, polishing the hammer it's going to drop on my balls now that they aren't rookies. The longstanding tradition of nobody being able to quite reach the enemy with their grenade toss remains, though (gently caress it, blow up their cover. Hit your first Sectoid with a shotgun overwatch that had to have been single didgits chance.) I am so not "Good" at Xcom, so this is going to be one hell of a ride to the bottom.

Hey I'm sorry if this got answered in the tidal wave of posts on release, but does anyone know what the INI value is that I have to change to remove the "Beaglefix" they talked about? The one that gives aliens the opportunity to take a shot if they reveal you on your turn? I don't plan on exploiting this and I really feel MORE vulnerable in concealment instead of less, because if a new pod finds me and I'm revealed, I have a chance to react, but if they find me in concealment I get to loving die instantly. I'd really like to know how to undo that last minute tweak.

Game owns, is balls hard. Tactical layer is way harder than XCOM 1, but it feels like failing missions isn't quite so catastrophic in this game. My top soldier just got captured because i didn't realize she was unconscious instead of dead.

I was having a great time on commander difficulty, completing the first 6 or so missions with no deaths. Then suddenly the first mission with mechs and I lose 3 people. This game is great though, the time limits make the missions more interesting instead of creeping up and overwatching each turn.

33-38 frames on Maximum Settings with 8xMSAA and 2560*1440. So this game does not demand "more" than GTA V did 1 year ago. I expected worse tbh. Then again, an updated nvidia driver will maybe tweak something, too.

It's actually that they have a chance to shoot you if they walk into an exposed soldier on the higher difficulties. So long as you aren't intentionally baiting it, you probably won't get shot at.
