86 GT, in spectacular shape, is for sale near me. Red, TTops for max mullet factor, 10 hole rims, grey interior. So clean. But is an AOD. The 5 sp swap isn't terribly difficult but would entail another couple thousand bucks. If it had a manual, I would be knocking on the guys door tomorrow Love the four eye

Heh, actually I misread and thought he was saying a couple thousand in misc. parts to do the swap. It's a pretty straight forward swap as far as transmission swaps go. I'll never defend the AOD.

It's fairly easy. The parts list is fairly low in count for what you're doing but a halfway decent t5 is a grand or so. Then there's k member, exhaust modifications, the pedals, clutch, etc It's a really clean car but still not worth the extra $$$

Screw what it looks like, the S550 has vastly superior suspension. I'd drive a pink S550. The only reason I don't drive an S550 is apparently I won't pay for one.

I've sat in both, they're cool cars and the power and technology is great but I'm a simple guy, and again it's because I prefer new edge styling over the new mustangs, even though that obviously sounds crazy to you guys. I wanted to buy a fox originally because I am a sucker for pre-90s styling but I figured a slightly newer car would be more reliable at the time. Stock for stock a s550 suspension kills the new edge, so does the motor, interior, gadgets and all its other tech. The NE interior will always be goofy looking. I wish I had the skills to do some really exotic leather work and metal trim work and give my interior a really nice custom/luxury look without being tacky. Realistically shelling out about $100 to convert some of the trim pieces to carbon fiber is something I want to do too. I just dont want to spend that kind of money on non-performance related parts. Also my suspension kit will slay a stock S550! hahah

Extra posted:Speaking of New Edges what's the goon take on subframe connectors on the NEM? Is it really the most important handling upgrade? You want to get full length subframe connectors! Dont get regular subframes. After you do the springs (and/or shocks/struts), its the next logical step in terms of performance. When you stomp of the gas from a stop, the car can twist from the front to the back. Subframes stop this flex happening in the center of your car. If you have a convertable the first mod you should do is remove the stock subframes and put in full length subframes. Coupes do not have subframes! Do a google search for cars twisting at the drag strip. You will see the rear 2 wheels on the ground, and one front wheel is lower than the other front wheel. This is because the car is twisting under strain which ultimately damages your frame. when launching you want the rear wheels planted, and both the front tires to be even off the ground when you launch. A daily driver, will not see those kinds of stress, but over years, of constantly launching, the frame will bend (very slightly). Finally if you get them you want them welded in! bolted in do not work as well! make sure the cars tires are on the lift and not hanging. Hanging tires on a lift means the frame is bending and the subframes will not be on as perfectly.
