Equals is very, very clearly Indie THX 1138. But without as much fun on-its-sleeve robo fascism.

The first one was a pretty straightforward slasher and not all that exciting. The second one was more unrestrained and ambitious, and much more fun for it. Worth a watch if you're into fun if somewhat on-the-nose stuff.

I'm just so surprised that they're making that book into a Tom Hanks movie that I can't really grasp that poster. And Twyker co-directed Cloud Atlas too.

He draws ideas of things rather than the actual thing. Like those guns give you the impression that they're guns without really looking like any real gun, and the swords aren't very sword-like but you get the idea that they're meant to be swords. The perspective on that left hand gun looks like Deadpool is sort of gripping it sideways with the handle in towards his leg. It's both a top 3/4 view and a side view at the same time.

It's kind of a waste that he restrained himself and didn't go Full Liefeld, and make Deadpool's head tiny and his chest enormous, and then give him bulging rippling biceps and tons of pouches. That'd actually fit into the self-parody, fourth wall breaking humor of the character, and I think Liefeld is at least aware of his own reputation.

My problem with the Purge movies is that it's not 1989 and Paul Verhoeven isn't directing them.

I would be done for The Purge if they made it take place in 1980's Regan-run America.

That would be dope if the Purge series became a revolving door of awesome genre directors going buck wild with the premise.

I'm not as big a fan of Halloween 3 as some other people but it'd be pretty neat if "The Season of the Witch" became a sequel tagline the same way THE REVENGE and REVELATIONS has.
