The reason it's being mocked in this thread is just because Gavin Seim was desperately begging people to read psalms with him on the live stream of the standoff between the four holdouts and the fbi. Every time there was a lull in the action he would ask if anyone wanted to read psalms and they all basically ignored him. Literally, nobody even said "no, we'll pass on the psalms Gavin," they just changed the subject or let the awkward silence stand.

The Psalms are mostly boring poetry attributed to the possibly fictional king of an insular polygamist religion. It's like the ramblings of one of those crazy mormons who lives on a compound. Weird poo poo about god and semen and the like.

Supermax is just a short step up from solitary confinement. You have a TV that plays religious programming, a shitter and a bed, and escorted to showers and yard exercise but you're under constant observation and isolation from other prisoners. The whole deal is that you're either too violent to be in gen pop or a risk to coordinate and educate other prisoners.

I dunno. They obviously should be punished for what they did and should serve a bunch of time but these bumbling idiots are not what I think of when I think of a supermax prison. It just seems like a waste of space. I feel like these guys are dumb and misguided. But I just can't feel like they're "evil". The Bundys? Sure. They did a lot of horrible poo poo and added fuel to the fire. They're the real bad guys in all of this. These last four could probably learn a lot spending a good amount of time in gen. pop. and having to deal with the people they fear most. Fry's just nuts. He needs some deep mental help.

I suppose in the end the charges and sentences decide where they end up but no one's going to break them out, they're not smart enough to escape, and, for all their rhetoric they don't even seem that dangerous. Hell, 41 days 'camping out' broke them down a good bit ('cept Fry who was already broken) and that was probably pretty cushy compared to where they'll end up.

Of the last four, two are likely going to get some sort of probation and fines with maybe a small jail sentence. The guy that had a felony warrant is going to prison for an extended stay. It won't be at supermax. David Fry will go to a gentler correctional facility where he can receive adequate medical care because that boy ain't right.

The bundys and other leaders are proper hosed and will spend time in federal prison. I doubt they end up in supermax, but they'll probably receive more than just the conspiracy charges currently levied at them.

I don't think anybody is going to get off that easily. Even if prison time is limited, there's going to be an ungodly amount of fines from illegally inhabiting a federal office. The damages and fines alone will probably bankrupt a lot of these people, especially since the dumb motherfuckers filmed it. Plus, didn't they make a big show of wanting to use the files and computers in the office to access federal employee information? This hasn't even begun, and these people have made mistakes that could financially destroy themselves.

That said, the way the FBI handled this was masterful. They got a lot of grief for 'going easy' on Y'All Qaeda, but this thing was such a honeypot for every freaking lunatic out there and that had to be one of the reasons why this wasn't shut down immediately. It was the anti-Waco: very few deaths, no overreaction, and everything was filmed in some manner. Not only can this be spun, there's footage that negates it all. Tarp Man's death was captured, and shows that most of the people bellowing and lying about the story are quickly shown to be in the wrong. Not only did this whole thing showcase the lessons learned from the '90s, it's shown that all of these militia assholes are really just enormous pussies who playact what they seen on TV. Nothing has done more damage to their brand than this whole incident, and it was fueled by pure arrogance.

It's delicious schadenfreude across the board. The Bundys are going to jail, the only one killed was because he was a loving moron, and the rest have made asses out of themselves on a national stage and showed just how lacking and awful they are. You couldn't have gotten a better outcome.

No doubt. The Bundys are so hosed that, even if they get a minimum sentence, they will have lost their whole livelihoods. I doubt whoever's left in the family will be able to keep the ranch running for the 4-6 years the bare minimum of charges they could get.

I find it funny that the thread's attitude to Fry has changed from " kill the doof:black101:" to " :ohdear:". I do hope that a federal prosecutor reminds him that Lavoy and the Bundys treated him like poo poo and planned to betray him, that Fry's now in charge of their fate, and that he can get a good deal by going Fed witness vs. the Bundys and, if he cooperates with improving his mental health with a stay in a sanitarium, he can go into witness protection and get a new life. :smith:
