Chris verified that they shot for 66 days, so at $50K per day (the upper limit of what CIG themselves said mocap costs) that's $3.3 million. Also it's amazing how blatantly CR refers to it as a movie.

In so many ways, SC is like a Quake 2 mod that never got finished, just scaled up thousandfold. Some updates on the website, some unrendered model of a gun, a lovely demo that actually ends up being the only version that ever sees the light of day.

I'm really loving sick of gaming/news outlets writing these fence-sitting pieces where they copypasta CIG's horse poo poo press releases, throw out a couple of chickenshit half-swipes at the obvious catastrophe in progress, then peace out like "we'll see, heheh, hope CIG makes a good thing! Byeee!" Either don't give them any press at all, or write an article that at least dares to LOOK at the giant beached whale in the room. I mean I get it, journos gotta eat and they eat ad revenue, but jesus christ, has journalism ever been less useful?

They don't tell you or show any images, but when a mission call for delivering "2 tons of highly illegal Nerve Gas agent" to a rival station and that the moment you hand them over the station go to civil war, you can pretty guess what just happened. Carrying Imperial slaves (who are if i recall correctly from the lore more like indentured servants) are pretty tame compared to picking up escape pods and handing them over to Pirates for credits or supplying factions with names like "New Dawn" with nerve gas and nuclear weapons by the tons.

If they have the business sense of hiring some eastern Europe city philharmonic like Budapest or Sarajevo they can get a lot of recording time for those american $ and the music will be perfectly serviceable for a video game. Of course if they insist on the best and go for something like the Boston symphonic orchestra they will probably only get politely mocked when they show up with a half scribbled score. Untangling the hot mess that is Star Citizen is a nightmare for someone working in an industry that generally gives you an extremely short turnaround on a story designed to nab some interest and move you along. I'm fairly certain that if someone were to write that article for them that they could generate some interest. Maybe. Unless CIG's temper tantrum was enough to make publishers wary, despite their utter lack of followthrough.

Like, I know the entire point of this thread is to make fun of how hosed this whole thing is, but...this poo poo is hosed. CIG are some immoral bastards if he's even kind of right about the future of this game. I feel legitimately sorry for all the true believers who have donated astronomical amounts to this poo poo.
