I've been watching a lot of movies lately since I binged through too many shows and I don't want to start another. Today I watched We Need to Talk About Kevin, which is frankly terrifying along with sad and disturbing. It's so bleak it's almost too much. It's about a mother of a teenager who shoots up his high school, and it jumps through her life from before he was born, to his childhood, to leading up to it, to her trying to live some kind of life in the aftermath. It's basically a person experiencing hell for almost 2 decades and it's immediately apparent how completely broken she is. I guess I'd recommend it, and technically you could go in knowing less than what I've already said, but I couldn't in good conscience tell someone to watch this movie without giving sufficient warning. I haven't seen the Revenant, but since people talk about how bleak it is and how one note Leo is, I wonder how comparable it is to Tilda Swinton in this.
