Owners will complain that they can't pay decent wages because of competition from foreign products (e.g. mexican strawberries) which will be cheaper. Hmm.... foreign goods flooding the market. Wonder if that has anything to do with free trade agreements that started under democratic presidents...

Systematically otherising and marginalising an entire demographic of people generally results in poor consequences. Democrats tend to control the more elite cultural and social institutions, particularly amongst the young, and when other people feel excluded from that, they're likely to go: 'gently caress you, i'll take this thing you use to lambast me with and reclaim it as a strength'. 'Rednecks', manual workers,' 'spergs', whatever. People who virtue signal their own enlightenment constantly and yet don't follow it to this simple conclusion are simply inhaling their own farts over and over. They think this is still high school where they are the plucky underdogs fighting against the dumb jocks, when in fact they are the largely seen as the cool popular kids by society. Likewise, getting mad at people who study what are important social issues and liberal arts in University, in an economy that is going to increasingly value abstract and social thinking over mechanical and algorithmic thinking, is also generally unhelpful. Like it or not, we are going to need a better educated populace in the future, we need to emphasise it's intrinsic value in all fields. Realise that the other sides action is often symptomatic of your sides behaviour. Now, I'm going to return to inhaling my own farts.

Generally because I agree with the studies that suggest more equitable distribution of income (lower gini coefficient), and a larger public services infrastructure can bring greater benefits to a society. Free college is not a great idea, that money should be spent far earlier in a person's education, as that is where attainment gaps really open up. Universal healthcare however is how it should be done. Also I wouldn't vote for someone who was incapable of articulating specific elements of policy IE: nuclear triad renewal, questions he would ask generals about ME, and who also has a habitual commitment to not quite producing coherent sentences. Regardless of Trump's solid economic stances that were proposed earlier (I don't know of any others, they might be typical Republican tripe, but I doubt it), they don't make him any less of a disaster-in-the-making for president. The man is a walking, talking foreign relations headache. The president is the face of the nation, and it can't be one that is going to spit in the rest of the world's face at any given moment. Hell, most of the world already sees us as crude, loud and nasty idiots, and he would do nothing but make that worse.

I don't really care about that sort of posturing. They had an important point to make as a particularly marginalised feeling group in society, and Sanders ceded the mic conscientiously because of that. I don't see it as a flaw that a politician demonstrates a conscience and empathy.
