Anyone else get a pretty much nothing but female soldiers at the start? It's pretty awesome, my A-Team is a bunch of hard rear end scarred women. I'm enjoying it.

For not having second wave options, there is a lot of replay value between randomized continent bonus, Advanced Warfare Center, and the general flexibility you have when picking from multiple mission sites. It's no longer "go here or lose an entire continent and probably the game"; instead you choose which two body parts you want to get punched in.

Best quote I saw on the review comments was "way to figure out how to make the game easier without making the game easier" I wanted to install the critical chance mod that reverts it to EU/EWs system but thought better of it when I realized it would just make the aliens basically never crit ever. In my attempt at the Exquisite Timing achievement (beat the game by July 1), it was June 29th and I had one day to go on the Avatar Autopsy research project. I was actually just about ready to write up my strategy for you guys once it finished. While I was passing the last few hours until the research finished, one last council mission popped up—pretty sweet, right? I was getting a shitload of free intel right before I'd spend it all on the penultimate mission. So I complete the VIP capture mission, return to the Avenger… and find that a bug has reset the progress on the Avatar Autopsy. Now it'll finish on July 4th. gently caress that poo poo right to hell. e: givetech AutopsyAdventPsiWitch Zoran fucked around with this message at 22:59 on Feb 16, 2016 |

Something like "ADVENT Network Analysis", where your eggheads knuckle down and analyze communication intercepts. That way, you could A. have a reliable if inefficient way to get intel in an emergency, and B. give your scientists something to do once you've unlocked everything.

They're not infinitely repeatable. Something like a 10-15 day research project unmodified that gives you 20-30ish intel would be good. That way, with lots of scientists (end-game) it'd only be 7ish days, and it would still make datapads attractive for their greater gains. It's just annoying to have the labs completely idle.

Holy loving poo poo the last room of the last mission was something else. My entire team of Colonels was wiped out on the little bridge leading to the room, and I had to do the entire room with just my Commander Avatar and whatever he could mind control. No idea how the gently caress I scraped through. It came down to guessing where the last Avatar had teleported to and getting a lucky shot with a Null Beam or whatever it's called. Great, great game. That room also destroyed my otherwise good PC, and the game crashed to desktop when three Gatekeepers exploded at once. Also I heard that the ending massively hinted at the next game/expansion. So I built a Wraith suit for my sniper, and how exactly do you control grappling? If I activate it it shows me a bunch of squares in orange, but if there's a way to pick between those squares I can't find it. Are you supposed to be locked into the one square it auto-selects for you? Also, it apparently doesn't have the same HEY IDIOT THIS WILL BREAK CONCEALMENT warning that movement does, which I learned when I grappled up and went through a window the game didn't tell me was there.

Any tips and tricks to beating legendary? I am getting my poo poo kicked in pretty hard. I am using the pro EU strats of hunkering and overwatch trapping, but I am having a hard time by either pulling to many pods or underestimating the advent trooper's mobility. The biggest offender so far is flanking, as moving to flank an enemy with a ranger very often results in another pod's activation, which usually means game over. I am 60+ games deep and have yet to get out of month 3. I got to magnetic weapons exactly once due to 50% off on tech hack, but had no supplies to build them. I usually rush the GTC first and AWC second, am I doing this wrong? Also, I am having a horrible time with "hack x" missions due to absurd pod placements. The worst thing so far are the stun lancers, those fuckers never miss and always KO my dudes on a crit. My squad usually doesn't have enough firepower to mow both lancers down, especially because my dudes very frequently miss 80% shots. I am considering a 4 grenadier squad but I have yet to have that happen. I still cannot decide if overwatching and ambushing is better out of concealment, or if taking a shot and then moving in response to the pod scattering is better. Which one do you folks prefer? Is there something fundamental that I am missing? In terms of promotions, phantom rangers seem like a godsend but I haven't seen anything overwhelming on the first 2 levels in other classes. Long Watch is ok I guess and the specialist upgrades kind of suck so far. Captain Gordon fucked around with this message at 01:19 on Feb 17, 2016 |
