Tomorrow I'm going to boat over to Port Angeles with my dad and then spend the weekend in a fishing derby with him. Beer shall be consumed and fish shall be caught. I'm looking forward to it.

Getting out of the hospital today after after nearly a week. Been dealing with mono for a couple weeks, went in to the ER on Sunday night with tonsils so swollen they were cutting off my airflow and got the in patient treatment because it turns out the virus had been busy trashing my liver function. Good times.

I had mono in high school, which is probably the best time to get mono. No class for a few weeks? Sleep all day?

Fishing trip report - hour three: Following the advice of my father I brought my dog on the boat in order to drop her off with my mom while I'm away. Pictured: Joy, right after boarding the boat. The original plan had been that I would take the ferry and meet my father on San Juan Island, since we both agreed that my flake of a brother couldn't be trusted with my dog. In hindsight, me taking the ferry was the best option. The boat now reeks of poo poo and puke. Joy and three foot swells do not mix well, and I nearly joined her in vomiting as I attempted to clean up after her. Thankfully we met my mom at the pier in Friday Harbor and she is going to pamper the poo poo out of my dog. Tomorrow she said she'll take her to the groomers. The rest of the time she'll be playing with my mom's two dogs, a golden doodle and an old lab. As for the fishing, well, we're headed to Port Angeles now. The trip to the peninsula is being fueled with tequila and scotch.

So my neighbor is an idiot. He's wearing a pt belt to wash his car. In the driveway. And he definitely is not a military guy. Who do I blame for bringing back bright fluorescent colored clothing like it's 1991 again?

Got a call this morning from the patient advocate. She repeated what my doctor told me and said that there was no way still to refer me to choice for specialty care and that the people at choice that I've spoken with over the past couple of weeks were all wrong. I asked if she thought that it would help to call my rep and she said yes so that's the first thing I did. Guy that answers the phone is the military/vet liaison so I lucked out with the right person immediately. He told me that the VA is indeed hosed up and that he might be able to fix it with a phone call and hopefully doesn't need a congressional inquiry, but this doesn't sound like it's his first rodeo. I'm hopeful that he's going to get something squared away so I don't have to drive 3+ hours for surgery. Edit: And looking through the statute as it was originally written it does cover all of this. The VA is just hosed up in implementation. Mr. Nice! fucked around with this message at 16:11 on Feb 19, 2016 |

If your reps attack dog is anything like mine was, it'll get sorted out quick quick style. Mine was like a goddamn shark that smelled blood in the water if you had a legit claim. Used to hate seeing that guy when I worked benefits - he needed a head to collect and he would start with my office because I would always say "call the congresswoman"

I mean I really don't want to ruin anyone's day. I just want to get this poo poo fixed and its like herding cats. I shouldn't have to jump through hoops to get a test to see if my gallbladder works when all of my doctors are saying I need the test. I think where the problem lies is that people are still stuck in the old mindset with the outside referral system that had a dollar budget and limits to it vs the new program where apparently they just need to go to a website or some system and click a few buttons. My rep's vet liaison and the choice people have said this is a simple process and isn't difficult. Everyone inside the VA is saying either they don't know how it works or they're barred by policy to do what I'm asking. Both sides of this say the other side is wrong. Whip Slagcheek posted:gently caress that, ruin someone's day. The people at top? Yeah, gently caress them I want them to be miserable. My doctor and advocate who are following instructions given to them by their bosses, though, I would rather them not have a lovely day. Apparently the regional office in Gainesville is the one that puts out a lot of these policies since the office here is just an outpatient clinic.
