For a less well explained version: A sword with a 5% chance to cause +30 fire damage has a five percent chance to proc. It mainly applies to ARPGs and MMOs.

Am I missing something? A DT of 5 means that it ignores any damage less than 5. nothing does less than 5, and all the armor in that mod has DT of 1 - 5 LumberingTroll fucked around with this message at 03:18 on Feb 19, 2016 |

Thats damage reduction, FNV had both DT and DR.

They changed it for Fallout 4, if you take 5 damage with 5 DT, it means it blocks 50% of the damage. Source

Don't act like no one played fallout 3 and NV with 1 end because of DR, because that game and all fallouts are easy to only have 1 end.

The weirdest thing to me about DT in FO4 is that Beth apparently built in mechanics where NPCS will flee if they know they can't damage you, but didn't actually put DT in the game.

DT was probably prototyped at one point during development or there were ways to become invincible to certain attacks. It's probably just a vestigial part of the AI that mattered at some point during development, but there was no point in bothering to remove it.

Is there any real way to get into the .esp activator in the launcher? I don't really feel like loving around with a mod organizer or whatever because I just want a few mods for the time being, but having to do it through the plugins.txt file is kinda annoying. Supposedly you click on a thing on the dude's helmet on the launcher and it gives an .esp activator checkbox, but I've never seen this. Opted for beta a long time ago and hasn't worked ever, any time I tried it. Maybe if if verify the cache? Dunno. poo poo be hosed.

I'm looking forward to maybe making a few small mods or tiny quests for Fallout 4, but I don't have any real experience with the GECK or any modding tools. Are there any good guides floating around on how to familiarize myself with the tools or with beginner modding? When I google it all the comes up is how to install mods on the end-user side of things. Or, since the new GECK isn't out yet and it is likely to be different than the old ones, the point is moot and I just have to wait?

Load times went from near-instantaneous to 1 minute+ over night and I don't know why. Here's my mod list: I most recently added Companion Infinite Ammo (yesterday) but played with zero issues until now. Any ideas? Edit: Nevermind, borderless windowed was causing it for some reason? I used to make some mods for original Fallout 3, so I hope it's similar to that. I mostly liked playing with leveled lists primarily for my games, as it's fun outfitting bad guys in distinct outfits, and it's really easy. I remember I had a mod that made Fallout 3 Raiders match old mobs in the original Wasteland. And one that made all Talon Company wear a specific uniform with goggles. Those were some good times.

Sorus posted:I've been to thinking about getting into the modding thing. I want to mess with minor factions, maybe expand the raiders/split them into distinct groups. Ya, I've been brainstorming some simple beginner mods myself. Your idea sounds pretty simple to do, but also pretty man-hours intensive. Adding the factions is short, but then you have to go around every cell and edit everyone. . . The raiders are kinda split into factions, lore-wise (Corvega, those sisters, Smelters), so figuring out what factions to make is made easy. Maybe they could have different AI behaviors? Sky's the limit! As for me, reading the Awful Mods thread got me wanting to make good, non-porn mods. I'm planning on making some settlement objects. Well, one settlement object. I want to make a singing / joke-telling wall fish. Speaking of which, anyone know where the guides to animating static objects might be? I can only find animation guides for actors. Ugh, why can't they release the GECK already. I know ol' T. Howard said he didn't want to release the kit till the game was good, because "nobody wants to mod a bad game" (lol) and I got a feeling we'll be waiting a long time. --Edit: I've been googling around for some animation tutorials and the top link is almost always Loverslab Wrr fucked around with this message at 04:25 on Feb 23, 2016 |

You could use their modding tool to do this yourself. Then you can put in on the nexus for it to be swept up in some ominous mod compilation someone can use as a donate source under the false pretense of needing the money to play test their compilation. Every time I try out an EnB is just darkens everything to the extreme and overly uses depth of field and doesn't make anything look better just blurry. The sound of my pathetically bated breath must carry for multiple states. I've been following mods, but haven't really dug in for a reason. I really want a lot of settlement overhauling for how my NPCs work. I know there's some, but I'd like it to feel significantly deeper than vanilla. I won't even know if this is feasible until then. I'm guessing it probably is, with script extender.
