I really hate the loot system, it takes 3-8 hours to open a chest and you can only hold 4 at a time meaning you can play for like 10 minutes a day without spending money or not getting any drops.

No there isn't. Especially for addicts. If you win big the casino get really buddy buddy until they get that money back. People with gambling problems fall for it every time.

F2P games are probably cheaper than a casino trip too.

I'm still on the goblin arena and haven't been totally massacred as much as I was expecting. I've had a lot of really close matches actually.

To be fair the game is still in soft launch so Supercell have a few weeks to still tweak things here and there, though I doubt they'll be able to tone down the pay to win aspect entirely.

FYI you can reroll clash royale.

Aside from one Musketeer and a Skeleton and a few more all the other cards are random. Rerolled a Prince and mini Pekka and I'm winning more matches.

Wait what, wasn't the whole point of Arena to play with the same pool as everyone else? And when did they take away Concede? Is that even the same game anymore?

Oh, nope, you're talking about that other poo poo. Never mind.

the game seems fine and i really don't understand all the bitching. who cares if the game has some small group of whales who spend hours every day to maintain their elite ranking? as long as they aren't ruining their real life, i don't see the problem. i'm having fun playing the game, and i really don't feel any need to spend money

i'd be genuinely curious to see replays or hell even match log screenshots from the goons itt who are so loudly proclaiming "PAY2WIN". i've been steamrolled a couple of times but in those matches i only lost 1 point off my rating (your rating can move +/- 30 points for each match). are you guys really going up against a nonstop conga-line of whale noobs and getting your rating trashed 30 points each time?

You seem really upset about people calling the game pay to win. The fact is that if you have to pay for cards that give you an advantage over other players then that is pay to win by definition. I haven't played it so I don't know if that is the case or not.

Eh pay to win is generally more along of the lines of having to pay or never being able to obtain advantageous content. Then theres grind to win where paying speeds things up abit.

While it's not grind to win, upgrading your deck and buildings is quite slow because all the chests you win in games (which contains cards) require you to wait 3 hours plus to unlock (and you can only queue one to unlock at a time), unless you want to fork over some gems to open them instantly, which is probably the most frustrating thing about this game.

I like it though. As I mentioned above I've gotten into a lot of close matches and it actually gets quite exciting.

You are not one of us.
There's a matchmaking system in the game. If someone dumps a load of money on the game and winds up with a good set of cards they'll move up the rankings until they get put with other people with the same quality of cards. I'm thinking the smaller player pool is over exaggerating how often sets with a large quality gap will play against each other, and once the game is fully out it won't be an issue at all aside from the rare odd game.

Yeah, this seems true. I got steamrolled in my first few games but I don't think I've faced an overly unfair opponent since then.

I haven't played the game but that sounds like grind to win except they cut out the part where you gotta grind for 3 hours. Letting you wait it out instead of investing more time grinding, while it sounds like you're gaining chests quicker than you can open them as well.

I've read that there are games, Game of War I think is one example, where in order to compete at even the non-scrub tiers, you need to put real money in. And its not just buying like a building that produces elite troops or something like that, its buying disposable stuff, so you need to keep buying and buy and buying. I've basically resolved to never ever play a forced pvp game ever on mobile.

For some dumb reason, Grand Theft Auto Liberty City Stories claims to be fine for installing on my Nexus 5x, but incompatible with myGPD XD. I really want physical controls and the handheld is more than adequate to run it just fine I'm sure. Any way to transfer it to my tablet from the phone? If I buy it on my phone, then sideload the apk, will the necessary files correctly download to the tablet during installation? Or am I out of luck?

Try installing it on your phone, then after sideloading the apk on your tablet copy over the relevant folder in the Android > obb directory from your phone to your tablet.

Also turns out the chests you win after a match are fixed and it is more efficient to gem your timed chests then buying the ones in the shop.

At a glance, the progression system is pretty opaque, so I'm going to hold off on spending more gems besides the hundred or so that I wasted on unlocks and creating a clan for now. Hopefully someone will crunch the numbers and post a guide on the best use of Supercell funny money.

That said, you can use gems both for chest unlocks and for buying gold directly, and it's not immediately clear to me whether one is more economical than the other, or in what way(s). Unlocking chests that you won from matches obviously speeds up your ability to win more chests, which will then sit in your inventory bar just like the old ones, but you do get the chest booty (heh) more quickly. Using gems for gold is a bit more tricky for me to wrap my head around, because it's not clear how the gold-purchaseable cards ramp up in price overall, nor how the game decides which cards to showcase in those slots. Buying a few copies of new commons with gold seems like a no-brainer though, since they cost like 3-4-5-... gold to start and this will let you pump up those commons a few levels right away.

Zander13

Here is some basic stuff on clans for clash royale.

There is a daily limit on donating (60, a rare is worth 10) . You do get gold back so it is nice when you can spend small amounts in the shop for those commons as well.
