Maybe once or twice a year I make what I call Cat Lady Christmas, which is chicken, a package of dry Stovetop stuffing mix, loose corn, dried cranberries, and condensed cream of mushroom soup all mixed together and baked, sometimes with cheese on top if I'm feeling extravagant. It's loving delicious, tbh.

Besides making a poo poo ton of salsa in the coming days, I'm also just eating them however the hell I can. The pic below is not my tomato-onion salad, but it is very similar.

Just looks like leftover takeout fried rice that's been refrigerated, and was dumped out of the little carton to be microwaved. Nothing AFP about this.

RNG posted:Bread soup is a real thing. This reminds me, I found a bunch of Russian cookbooks for peasants from the Tsarist era that had recipes for things like "bread soup" and "beer soup," which if I remember correctly was imperial stout, a couple of beaten eggs, salt, and some parsley. I should dig those up and make something and post the trip report here.

Both beer soup and bread soup are super delicious, there is a beer garden type place near me that makes both and I get them all the time.

It's a ham hock that was just separated from the bone. It's sold pre-cooked and vacuum-packed, and there are two ways to prepare it: remove from vacuum pocket, add seasoning, bake with some potatoes; or the lazy way where you just boil the whole thing still packed, and then unload it in a plate, gelatin and all. This is what the lazy way ends up looking like (well, it was also overcooked a little). When you bake it with potatoes, the potatoes soak up the gelatin and it not only looks better but tastes wonderful (the lazy way is just meh taste-wise) The liquid part is not water BTW, but about 9 parts gelatin, 1 part lard

In Poland we've got this: which is sweet bun, soaked in milk. Usually eaten with add-on of honey, sugar or jam. There's also Sour rye soup and this: Stale bread soup (preparation guide in polish)

I just watched Ming Tsai melt roughly a half a pound of butter, put a handful of loose corn in it, then pour it on a plate. Ta da! Edit: every time I watch him cook I think he's got no clue what he's doing. mds2 has a new favorite as of 06:48 on Feb 20, 2016 |

It often tastes very lighly of plums, but overwhelmingly of rye bread. I love it, but most people who try it for the first time hate it.
