Didn't Skullgirls make a more complete game with like 4 dudes in a basement somewhere? Capcom shoulda hired weird porn artists I guess.

Okay, people might say "oh, bebop, you're just being a sour rear end in a top hat" about the other three, but the WORK you have to put in to get a tick throw in this game is ridiculous.

If you don't have a normal that's +3 and leaves you point blank you literally can't tick throw chars with 3f normals.

Not even The Goddess of SFV herself, Chun-li, can do that off her cr.LP. Well, sometimes you can, I assume I'm throwing the last startup frame of the 3f normal but ugh, c'mon.

Zand posted:I was wrong, the game is fine. Stick support is stupid and they should just add more functionality to the game instead of catering to the 1% of users with special controllers. Input lag is fine too, I personally don't care how much input lag I currently have, and I would even find it acceptable if there was more. The normals in this game feel great, and I love how easy the characters are to play; the old games had so many one-frame-links that, well, for players like me, those are just impossible and my brain turns off when I even have to consider them. The throw ranges, speed, tech windows, and how throws interact with opposing crouching jabs are things I've been looking for in my fighting game experience for years and I'm glad that SF5 is finally delivering. Most of all, I hate it when companies constantly update me with information regarding common complaints for games that I pay to beta test. Nothing more obnoxious than information overload. That's the motto of SF5: Keep it simple!

Typically the advantage of 1 button throws is that although they're point blank they have no start up to make up for how much you have to telegraph them. The advantage of 2 button throws is extra range on top of the start up and whiff animation. Capcom has finally bridged the gap and brought you the best of two worlds, 5 frame throws with 1 frame range. They don't give a hard knockdown either, so you can always #RiseUp

Some Vega stuff I've labbed: All of his fierce punches force stand on crouchers. But only claw on Toward Fierce can cause a crush counter, but I haven't found any useful followups for that. Claw off allows for you to cancel his standing and crouching fierce into specials. With the claw on, you can link from a counterhit low forward into a standing fierce. From there, you have every combo option available from a raw standing fierce. Additionally, low forward is so plus on block that it's not a bad frame trap setup to go for the standing fierce anyhow. However, the low forward has to be fairly deep, like knee deep. You don't have to be point blank, but the tip of your foot isn't going to allow that link to work. As long as your opponent isn't in the corner, blocked v-trigger into blocked super seems to be an unavoidable 5% chip kill.

Nothing about 1 button throws necessitates they be short range. Guilty Gear is the game with shortest 1 button throw ranges and they're still respectable, about as short as they should be for a game like that. Outside of kara throws, street fighter games with 1 button throws have always had more range.
