That's what makes this so loving funny.

Cruz, Rubio, and Christie were well hated by their own party. Find me any analogies like this for the 08 or 12 primary field. Even Huckabee and Tancredo were well liked and looked more presidential than these three who are major candidates this go around. Perry AND Christie were facing indictments going into the race. Their #1 used to be a blue dog dem ffs.

Well, it doesn't suggest that he's had a consistent strategy for very long. Like, you seem to be wanting to argue that Trump is some sort of secret political genius. I think the jury's still pretty far out on that one.

All the candidates in now are super strong for a 2012 style primary.

Unfortunately for them, Donald Trump has self-funded holding their mouths open and taking a poo poo in each and every one.

The argument is that Donald J Trump, of Trump Steaks fame, noted Manhattan reality TV star, casino/hotel owner, and spray-tanned billionaire has vanquished a number of sitting governors and senators. They were vanquished like dogs. Sounds like a low-energy field to me.

Christie: a loudmouth fat man with more skeletons in his closet than a Ted Bundy

Fiorina: Awful businesswoman who can't even get her ex employees to support her

Cruz: hated by all of his colleagues and most of America, melty face

Rand Paul: kill you're parents

Rubio: First term senator with no legislative accomplishments, and no real crossover appeal. Nominal tea partier.

You do realize that Romney would have won with like 3% more of the white vote, right?

Edit: The GOP "establishment" position is what you lay out, try to convince various flavors of brown people that they want to vote Republican. The Trump position is to convince Americans they should vote American, and any citizen is welcome. I think it's pretty obvious which of these is a better general election strategy.

Obama won 55% of women in 2012. A Quinnipiac Poll found Trump had a 66% unfavorability rating among women in Ohio. Obama won 71% of Latinos in 2012. A Univision poll found that Trump had an 80% unfavorability rating among Latinos.

PoCs and women know what white men mean when they say Americans voting for Americans; polls show that the majority of them aren't buying it.

There were some pretty great polls released last year on perceptions of political correctness in America.

"NY Times posted:

Over all, 68 percent agreed that political correctness was a big problem, including 62 percent of self-identified Democrats, 68 percent of independents and 81 percent of Republicans. These views cut across racial lines. Seventy-two percent of whites and 61 percent of nonwhites (mostly African-American and Hispanic) describe political correctness as a big problem. A Rasmussen poll in August found that 71 percent of 1,000 adults surveyed agreed with the statement that political correctness was “a problem in America today.”

That sure is a lot of people who just really really want to say the n-word!

Walker made serious strategic errors. He entered way too late (July!), showed a severe lack of charisma in his speeches, and then seemed to follow Trump's weird Latinophobic positions like a puppy. He had no chance.

Kasich doomed himself by being too hard-line on social issues like women's health, and not hard-line enough on stuff like immigration reform or expanding Medicaid. Also he didn't differentiate himself from Jeb that much and also entered too late (also July).
