Sorry, I was honestly just trying to give advice because this game is different than most wrt power leveling. My sensibilities were shocked by the sailor mouth response and I lashed out. Play how you like, friend, and please join us on Orwen. I'm not even in the guild and probably won't be let in on account of declaring Lewtt my eternal nemesis for making me reroll an insignificant character.

I preordered for the fun combat and nice locations (I spend my time in MMOs rather casual, just exploring around most of the time) but I spend my head-start time with setting up production routes and checking in on my workers between fishing sessions. I somehow really enjoy planning and setting up production and crafting routes. I guess I'm weird like that. Me and my Donkey, named Show, checking in on my mining crew in the coastal caves.

How close is this to be ChinaGame 3.0 ? The class system is not a big draw for me but if there is enough PVP shenanigan/griefing potential - city control i might be tempted to give it a swing. Harassing all the MLP fan playing just to breed horses might be fun too...

For those that think the game is a broken mess and that the people playing are full of drama, well the reality is that playing with the group on Orwen yesterday was super chill, even when we were trying to figure out wtf was going on with the server issue. We did a bunch of tree chopping thing together, some people formed groups to grind mobs, some of us just went around exploring the world and doing random stuff. So far, the game is fun and I'm playing it super casually, smelling the flowers and helping with guild events. It's all cool, bros.

Eonwe posted:That was me in the process of deciding on a main, 1-25 has been completed on all ten sects,so here is some of my observations : All basic sets pretty sucks, but some more than other. Here is my (purely subjective)ranking, from suckiest to most fun. 1 - Infinity 2 - E'mei 3 - Shaolin 4 - Tong 5 - 5Venoms 6 - Wudang 7 - Zephyr 8 - Harmony 9 - Splendor 10 - Sun and Moon School costumes (Girls) : Most sensible - Splendor Most sexy - S&M Most knickers showing - Zephyr Best hats - 5Venoms Only Creature that killed me (3 times over 10 characters) - Mountain chicken (idling pheasants) I decided to eliminate infinity from the running because "Dont hit me when i glow" is a nice concept for a final boss but not really feasible for a PVP heavy game. Wudang also get out of the list because we apparently have enough of those so far. I have difficulties playing Tong since they feel like having been designed for action mode and it give me trouble when i try using it. Zephyr may get the boot too since the skill refresh is supposed to be called "cooldown" not "tea party with the countess" The choice is then narrowed to Splendor, E'mei, Harmony, S&M, 5Venoms and Shaolin, Tong and Zephyr getting a second chance if i cant find satisfaction among those 6 at level 40 I'm open to suggestion if the guild has any deficiency in class membership. Onward to 40 !

Third World Reggin posted:in the process of deciding on a main, 1-25 has been completed on all ten sects,so here is some of my observations : The Clan was formed by Kumarai Echizen a medical ninja from Wanderer's Valley and a Talented Chef Tanoshii Xialum from the Scholars. They were old friends, met in Xialum's hometown Suzhou. Echizen was on a mission to recruit his own clan in his families honor. Hearing the call of adventure and a way to get out from under the slow paced lifestyle of Scholars, Xialum was eager to join him. People flocked to their call pretty quickly, Echizen and Xialum would always hear out all of their members and try to make everyone happy. Their clan was growing well, they already assigned a few leaders and one of their promising members, although occasionally drunk, started hosting a Tournament for the clan to test their combat and give them entertainment in the off days when they weren't running escort missions or being hired by other clans. The founding Grandmaster of Hakumei leaves for Kyoto. His androgynous younger brother Yashimiku relieves him of Grandmaster and continues leading the clan in his absence. Within just a few short days, Yashimiku calmed the quarrels between Hakumei, Twin Dragons, & The Jade Warriors. Twin Dragons went so far as to even help train Hakumei's Genin and Jade Warriors offered Hakumei a long-term alliance. The alliance was tested when the fearless demons "Nameless" & "Awaken" attacked the Jade Warrior's castle base of Ghoulu Mountain. Ensuring a strong bond between the two clans. This bond became even stronger when Hakumei led a surprise attack on Holy Wind Hill, located in the heart of Wudang territory. Outnumbered 3 to 1, the fearless assassins of Hakumei obliterated the armies known as "FadetoBlack" and the unfathomable "Immortals" The Ninja clan of Hakumei used the narrow mountain pass of Holy Wind Hill to surprise the oblivious clans and drove them out of Wudang. RenDeSharen along with Minato and two his squadmates, held off the oncoming waves of soldiers, while the rest of the war party torched their hall. One hour after the battle, the two armies started to retreat and lick their wounds while Hakumei celebrated without barely a scratch. After hearing of these exploits Kai-Taishi had met with Yashimiku and Xialum to offer their experienced mercenaries in battle. The Order of the Black Sun, commonly referred as Kuroi taiyo. Is a mercenary organization based in the city of Yanjing. They are known to be professional and ruthless in dealings, members of Kuroi taiyo follow a strict doctrine dictating that all shall follow a code of loyalty and honor when conducting a contract. Soon after Kai had entered the scene and the clan appeared to be growing fast, it was obvious a new form of order was needed to keep everyone under control. Thus Yashimiku, Xialum, RenDeSharen, Kai-Taishi and Crin formed the new Council and rank system to make a more structured hierarchy in the clan. During a combat practice led by Kai-Taishi, fellow councilor Crin became jealous with rage, due to having no ideas of his own, felt threatened by the newest councilor due to his popularity among the clan and increasing role in politics. Not being able to cope with this the Councilor went rogue and was quickly replaced by Mu-Long and due to knowledge of the clan's inner workings and animosity towards the leadership, Crin, former friend, was to be put as a target of the later formed Anbu. ANBU was formed as an elite sect of ninja within Hakumei controlled by the newly formed Council to gather information. Xialum had found information through diplomacy but Yashimiku believed it was better to know for sure and sent some Anbu undercover which discovered the truth behind the Jade Warrior's most generous proposal. Hakumei and Jade broke off forming a neutral pact with one another before going their separate ways. Hakumei receive word that the vicious "Trolls", a clan of bandits who scour the countryside of Jianghu, preying on the innocent villagers, have taken over an old imperial castle in Shaolin territory. The Hakumei council decided to declare war on the Trolls and run them out of their den. The first assault on the Trolls was a cake walk, Hakumei slaughtered them and dealt a major blow to their future defenses with minimal casualties. The second assault however didn't go quite as well. The dishonorable Trolls hired thugs to aide them in defense, unprepared Hakumei almost met their doom. Then, out of nowhere, the infamous peasant vigilante group, "Red-Flower" showed up and charged into the Castle with their pitch forks and torches. Along with the aide of Red-Flower, Hakumei won the second assault. Red-Flower broke their ties with Hakuemi, crying neutrality among the rival clans of Jinaghu. Despite the cowardice, fate shined down on Hakuemi still yet, for it was on this day that Hakumei made a pact with the Iron Wolves. Feasting on the flesh and lifeblood of their fallen enemies, the Iron Wolves of hell swore in dark sovereignty under Hakumei, to become their faithful and ever-loyal guard dogs. Iron Wolves displayed their viciousness in the war against the Troll clan, tearing asunder buildings and carrying servant girls back to their den for breeding. Not a single troll was left alive during the Wolves assault, what a wonderful sight to behold. With the fall of Troll, the land felt relief. Even though Hakumei wasn't a beacon of light, or of good, it cleansed the land of a terrible enemy. Troll wasn't done yet, one so filled with pride rarely are. Yet, they were defeated, they knew their place, and they would barely be able to muster strength to do much of anything. Yet, there place had a meaning, an agenda, on that failed with Hakumei's intervention. Eyes fell on Hakumei, dark eyes. Plans were being formed, Hakumei must not survive. Their real fight begins. The Emei clan of Master a long with their allies Animus attack Hakumei Castle. A devastating fight leaves the guild hall in ruins. Hakumei a long with IronfWolfPack held the attackers at bay.. It was a brutal fight and Xialum lost his life. Despite the close victory, The clan shattered shortly after, Ninja going their separate ways. The remnants of Hakumei followed Minato Uzumaki. The Sakura withers but new buds will always bloom, the roots are dry but shall be soiled once more. The death of Echizen has had an impact on Hakumei. Due to his bitter rivalry with Yashimiku, the scholarly Xialum has left the clan. Setting sail back to Kyoto, his homeland. Yashimiku reverted to his oldself, letting the clan slowly break apart. Much alike how he let his father's army back in Kyoto, fall apart. Bringing Echizen to his death.. Yashimiku couldn't bear to see Hakumei suffer the same fate under his command, therefore he swallowed his pride and abdicated to Minato. A Follower of the Tang and a close ally of Yashimiku since his arrival to Jianghu. The sakura withers and as time passes, stories unfold to legend. Mangy dogs turn on their masters; The deceit of Ironwolf was clear. They formed like a Tornado on a peaceful day, devastating the balance of nature. IronWolfPack betrayed Hakumei when they were at their weakest. However, once again and under terrible odds, Hakumei Clan prevailed, disciplining their dogs. Tensions between IronWolfPack and Hakumei are high.

A lot of $100 folks are taking the headstart advantage to grind out combat experience while there are less people clogging up the good spawns. The bulk of the game's content is non-combat related and we will likely experience the heat death of the universe before being forced to grind mobs for lake of an alternative quest.

This game is very strange. There's a million quests, but most reward you with contribution(ability to buy houses and invest in nodes and rent stuff(like fences to farm)), knowledge(topics to talk to npcs about that you can also go and read any time you want), and other things like inventory expansions rather than combat experience. In my opinion, those other things are the real meat of the game. But that means that if you want to push up to max level + quickly, you end up grinding mobs in the places where they're the easiest and the closest together. Well, since you can't pvp for a while, and you crave tears and human suffering... You can kite enemies to other players' mounts when they naively leave them unattended in combat areas. Imps and goblins kite well, and they have special aggro towards mounts. Have fun, commandos. o9

Play this game at your own rate. If you grind mobs and rush cap you will miss the majority of the game. If you want to rush cap, expect to make alts to explore the entire rest of the game. Some of the main stats only train with profession/life/home_economics skills (speed, stamina, bonus health) so expect to do some exploration and crafting. Recipes are not published in game, but the quests show you examples. It's all on the internet, but the point is there's a lot of stuff hidden in the world that you miss by just killing mobs.
