How do we ideologically frame gun regulations in the same framework as climate change, combatting bigotry and systemic discrimination, immigration, new economics AND all the other issues that fall to the wayside (taxes, patents, farm policy, etc)?

Ted Cruz is currently telling the press that the NYT apparently has a tape where Donald Trump basically says that everything he's been talking about with regards to immigration he doesn't actually believe in. The catch? The NYT has said that they'll only release the tape with Donald Trump's permission... He then calls on Donald Trump to tell the NYT to release this tape and prove that this allegation by Ted Cruz is false.

Years ago, my family attended a speech on the white house lawn from then-president Clinton. My brother was maybe 5 or 6 at the time. He was at my mother's knees one moment and scuttling straight away from us in a line on the ground before us the next. In that direction was a cloth rope, and behind that was the stage upon which the president was to speak. He scampers like a squirrel right past the legs of a shaved-head, glasses-wearing SS agent standing looking out over the crowd. Guy was maybe 30, if that. He swings swings around, swings back, and I can't remember very well but I do recall he was Calm Face --> Conniption in under a second. Here's this blonde, curly-haired, blue eyed toddler scampering underneath the stage, guy is looking at him from maybe ten feet away at the edge of the stage, and literally then Hail to the Chief starts. Fun day.

The Secret Service already tweeted out a response saying that their agents aren't responsible for coordinating where the press are/aren't allowed to be so the agent who took down the reporter is probably going to be in deep poo poo no matter what justification he had. At the same time, a big gently caress you to the reporter thinking he's the second coming of christ. Telling a secret service agent gently caress you because you have a camera? Go gently caress yourself.
