From the short clip that shows the start of the whole altercation, the agent blocked the photographer's view and the guy chestbumped the agent while yelling gently caress you at him. There's a sizable contingent of "socially/fiscally conservative but voted lifelong Democratic due to union/ethnic ties" among working class white people in the Boston area- think retired Irish and Italian Catholics. This kind of a switch was totally expected and shouldn't scare us at all beyond the usual "any vote for Trump is a vote too many."

I missed the percentage breakdown when I glossed it over. I also didn't know the Herald had such a reputation; I'll remember that in the future. A judge struck down Indiana's Muslim refugee ban, in the process calling it "clearly discriminatory". Gov Pence has filed for a stay, and will be appealing the ruling

The base is who consistently turns out, who consistently votes Democrat. who also, if they can afford it, consistently donates. They also make up a good deal of the party infrastructure. Bernie Sanders supporters are rarely the base at all. That's kind of his whole thing - that he isn't a normal democrat. The base loves Hillary. The not-base? A whole lot less of them do. Get over your inflated self-importance, guy who probably won't bother to vote! The Democratic Party is constantly doing things for the base. Black people form a significant part of the base. I had a long conversation/argument with an acquaintance who is active in black rights and is advocating not voting for Hillary specifically because Democrats don't do much for the black community. It's hard for me to say that his abstention vote will not help and that he should vote for Hillary due to the greater impact despite it not exactly being good for him. He rightly told me to go gently caress myself (though I still think he shouldn't abstain - but that's a different perspective).
