Crossposting from the terrain thread: Warlord Games is having a diorama contest with the theme of "hostile, harsh terrain," so I decided to go for a French Resistance ambush on a German patrol. I hope I was able to capture the tension I was striving for when I was brainstorming this one

Now that is loving cool. I'm hoping my work place begins to stock the Tamiya models as we started selling the hobby supplies and their kits are gorgeous.

Thanks! This is actually an incredibly old and primitive kit by modern standards, and suffers from the old Tamiya curse of being built for motorization, so there's holes in the hull for the motor and batteries and stuff. New Tamiya kits are top notch though.

I went to a model show nearby a week or so ago and it was depressing how 90% of the WW2 stuff was tigers and a few of the ones that weren't were german. I think there was one stand of british tanks and a few spitfires but it was really wall-to-wall big cat.

Our Chain of Command campaign continues into turn 3! Both Italian and Soviet Captains are having nervous breakdowns, Oberfeldbewel Ohme talks about flanking tactics and the terror of Maxims, and somewhere, in a small Russian hut, a poor cavalry Leytenant is having an awkward debriefing as we blur the lines between AARs and playwriting. Let's just say that things are getting positively narrative at casa Kriget Kommer: http://krigetkommer.weebly.com/stalino-1941-blog-ww2

Have any of you guys gone for Team Yankee? Never cared for Flames too much, but I really like what they have done with the tidy up of the base rules, and the unit cards. Just a better system overall.

Also I'm not sure Hinds literally can stick within 6", past 2 of the things.

Also I'm not sure Hinds literally can stick within 6", past 2 of the things. Sorry if I'm being dim but what's a daisy chain? Parking lots always bothered me - it looks like one of those parades in red square! One of the reasons I'm psyched for team Yankee is that it requires fewer models. My 80 point US list had a whopping 7 tanks, a few support vehicles and air support. Soviet mech platoons will be silly tho.

BeigeJacket posted:Sorry if I'm being dim but what's a daisy chain? Daisy chaining in this context is when each unit generates their own coherency bubble, akin to standard Flames-if you've got a leader with a 6" coherency range, every stand in his unit generates another 6" bubble, and so on and so forth, so a single unit can end up spread across the board depending on how many models they have. It's definitely a lot easier to maneuver with than TY's system, which can end up with vehicles in all kinds of awkward positions. The saving grace is that the penalty for not staying in formation is significantly lower than in regular Flames, but it's still not great. I will agree though that the lower model count is nice. I've got a 100 point US list that clocks in at 10 tanks, 4 Cobras, 2 VADS, and 2 ITVs, and so far it seems to be reasonably balanced (Though I will admit I haven't been able to take it out as often as I'd like). I will recommend though that if you're fielding US, always max out on your tank platoons-they're not exactly the most sturdy thing in the world, and if you only take two tanks it's very easy to lose the whole platoon to a single bail.
