Scold Bridle, Headhunters and Harvests are essentially legacy, and Rigwald's Curse will be effectively legacy once this league ends. But all these items are used in extremely niche builds, and are not essential for having fun. Make up your mind on what to whine about: are you going to complain about the existence of temporary leagues, ~ephemeral in time and space~, or are you going to complain about the existence of leagues where people have years worth of power backed up behind them? You can not whine about both in the same sentence.

You are still able to make personal progression, it shouldn't bother you that some rando has a better item then you that isn't obtainable anymore, especially if you do the temp leagues like all the cool people do.

Super excited for the new challenges. ID challenges seem accessible, and there's no super annoying game mechanics (kill exiles with talismans fell into this category for me). The full clear unID rare maps is an interesting one. I was thinking the prices would be high for those, but I guess you can just vaal some IDed rares and hope it unidentifies them?

In all fairness, you certainly can obtain legacy gear. It's just a waste of time and currency. I'll never understand the fixation some fools have with these items. Except in one case (Facebreakers) you'd be more powerful with equally unobtainable mirrored gear.

Just forget those items even exist, or play a build that doesn't make use of em, it makes sense why they exist the way they do, they weren't balanced right and they weren't going to reroll someones drop and they didn't want more of them dropping in the future. I'd highly recommend trying the temp league's because they have fun gimmicks that may or may not stick around and starting the game over fresh with everyone else is interesting, especially if you want to be on equal footing with the chance to get the "best" items.

But something like this Scale the damage with jewel slots, Elemental Overload, Pendulum of Destruction from the elementalist tree, and shock from shaper of desolation and the elemental conflux counter that it provides. Crit isn't necessary. Go Iron Will - Arc Templar. Don't know what the best Ascendancy class will be but It is cheap and tanky as a starter build.

"League-only item" means less than it used to. so you can get the best items in the game, albeit spread out rather than buying and running the same high-level maps over and over again. There's even a unique jewel now that near-replicates one of the best and coolest legacy items, Headhunter. A few years ago when I first started PoE I thought that the relative difficulty of respeccing was a dumb lovely design decision that would kill it for me. I even made a post or two (with a similar tone to Ezekeel, even) to that effect in the previous thread. I have almost 900 hours played now v  v Don't let your sperg tendencies stop you from enjoying a fuckin sweet game made by cool guys

There are very few legacy items that are meaningfully nerfed, actually. Kaom's Heart, Mjolner, Soul Taker, Bringer of Rain, Aegis Aurora, and all the crit multi are the big ones. Item quantity got removed from the rare mod pools but you honestly shouldn't care about that. You could consider old league uniques to be legacy but they're still obtainable, just much more valuable/harder to get now. Aegis is partially shafted by block being much worse than it was when it was broken in the first place, and Bringer of Rain's nerf was more to bring it in line with other block nerfs than a nerf targetted at the particular item. Most of the other nerfs don't particularly change the usefulness of the item. Shav's and Lightning Coil still do what they are supposed to, even if you lose like 200 ES with Shav's or mitigate like 5% less damage with Coil. Windripper is still the only bow that gives IIQ and IIR, even though it gives a bit less (and honestly the fact that it's a endgame powered weapon that gives IIR and IIQ and nothing else particularly unique is pretty terrible unique design). Outside of those 5 items, legacy uniques aren't particularly meaningful at all and most legacy uniques are actually just terrible uniques that have been buffed.

Can we start talking about what everyone's first build is gonna be? I was thinking about 2H RT Cyclone but that sounds a bit dull. Maybe considering crit Arc Witch again since I had a good time with that last league, but I'd rather do something new. I guess I could try it with Templar or another class? Also, is ST getting buffed back to its glory days? I did a couple 2H ST guys back when Primacy was hot, and it's fun and powerful. I also always wanted to do a buzzsaw but it was too flavor-of-the-month when I was thinking about it and very overpriced. How do you build it now that they've nerfed Alpha's and is it effective? I saw some people talking about it a couple pages ago so there must be a viable build. Basically for an initial build I am looking for something that doesn't need too many super rare things and is cheap and can get me up to, I dunno, tier 7 maps at least pretty easily. What about Bladefall? People raved about it in Talisman and I never understood how to build it.

My 3 top choices for myself right now are: Explosive Arrow using either Champion or Scion Berserker+something - Did this back in Rampage league, incredibly strong and can do anything but reflect maps. Oro's Flicker Strike with Slayer - Have never played this before but saw a lot of very promising info from last league. There's other good Ascendancy classes for it, but you want to stay on the left side of the tree. RF Totems with Chieftan - Somewhat boring, but very solid and I already have the Divine Righteous Fire MTX so there's that. All 3 are very strong with either zero gear requirements(RF Totems) or a single cheap unique, and can clear just about any content in the game.
