It seems like the GOP establishment is actively pushing Trump since Super Tuesday. If the RNC did not want Romney to give this speech, then he would not. Ryan would speak out against this attack but instead he says that the Primary is not over. Conspiracy theory thought: In 2010, the tea party lead to the utter destruction of the Blue Dog Democrats. This indirectly lead to a more cohesive and focused Democratic Party after 2012. The Democratic Party used that attack and made themselves stronger. The GOP might be doing the same here. By pushing Trump to the brink and making him go ahead with a 3rd party run, they can push out the utter crazy from the party to create a more cohesive party. While they would lose 2016, the self-inflicted wound could create a stronger party.
