Holy gently caress I hate this goddamn thread sometimes. You idiots are the worst. I've said before in this thread LM is poo poo but sometimes I will flip to it when Boneyard plays the same Ozzy song for the 50th time that day.

kajeto posted:New Wormed is loving brutal as gently caress. I have at least a dozen full listens just from the past 3 days. A-Life Omega Point's layering is and I still don't know what's making the backing drones in Eukaryotic Hex Swarm - is it an ebow? The amount of detail and cool poo poo going on is mindboggling even compared to their earlier work, and the rhythms are even weirder. The atmosphere is more urban and claustrophobic too, which is appropriate given that the narrative details what happened to human civilization before the universe got unmade on their last 2 albums (yeah, every single wormed release is a concept album and ties into an overarching story, but the lyrics are so broken-english that it's hard for me to stitch it together). the vibe reminds me of the manga blame!

Holy gently caress - new Mesarthim album/EP - Pillars $1 US for 4 amazing songs. This guy can't seem to do any wrong - synth heavy space atmospheric black metal. Epic in scope, beautiful in execution. Album: https://mesarthim.bandcamp.com/album/pillars-e-p Fav Song: https://mesarthim.bandcamp.com/track/orbiting "This is what space sounds like to me."

Is it just me or is Orbiting a black-metalized version of Kiss' "I was made for lovin' you baby". Can. Not. Unhear.

Dick Boat posted:Wow, this is really good. Oranssi Pazuzu just released a new album, although these days they are as much a kraut/psychedelic rock band as they are black metal. Still, really interesting space vibes and themes throughout their albums, like you'd be going deeper and deeper into the dark caverns of the unknown dimensions while losing your sanity the deeper you drift. From the new 'Värähtelijä' album: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2A2_zFdsfrg And the previous album 'Valonielu', which I like the most, especially the last song which is 15 minutes of descending into madness: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rrZR6pUH-rU

Dick Boat posted:Wow, this is really good. Midnight Odyssey ( also Aussie ) are in a similar vein, but less "poppy" with the synths, more "atmospheric" ( like 6-8 minutes of synths before drums/guitar makes a presence ), more melancholy/depressing ( Mesarthim is very "positive" ). Very long build-ups, ala doom/atmospheric. Their "classic album" - 2 hours long: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d6heH6b22wA But the guy has been releasing new stuff, 1 12-20 minute long song at a time, that's less heavy on the 8 minute synth atmosphere: https://i-voidhangerrecords.bandcamp.com/album/shards-of-silver-fade https://midnightodyssey.bandcamp.com/track/the-night-has-come-for-me

Yeah, shits hosed up. Not metal related but hearing about The Strokes "playing the classics" at SXSW and then realizing "Is This It" came out 15 years ago. :/
