Pierce M.def means that Dart hits harder than hammer does now and Needle kills anything in one hit. Like seriously I'm around 41/42 and Needle on my Summoner hitting a weak point will deal 7k+ damage. Also I've got performer now which means that I can amp up my physical defense each combat if I'm not sure I'm going to onehit everything. It's not unbreakable, but it's certainly getting there.

I finished up the game. The last part made me smile a bit, which is rare as rocking horse for a game to do. Obliterate makes bestiary filling out reasonably enjoyable instead of annoying. 3 new dungeons to tackle, though all but one boss is a push over and the other I didn't try yet. e: It also one shots Minette's buddy Bismarck Josuke Higashikata fucked around with this message at 18:29 on Mar 14, 2016 |

Wizard and Hawkeye are both great. I really like how Spellcraft affects seemingly every kind of magic, making for some really creative usage of spells. Astrologian, though, seems pretty unimpressive to me. Am I not seeing proper potential for it, or is it as underwhelming as I think? Maybe it gets good passive abilities? I also haven't really used Exorcist, either, though I imagine it'd be good for maintaining MP with Undo MP.

I just got Exorcist and I'm using that with Wizard's Full Charge to do +50% damage every turn.

Prescience works with basically any buff, including re raise and stillness. If you want to play it that way, you essentially can't lose if you maintain reraise.

Exorcist owns and I've spent most of the game using it with Dark Knight to recover all hp after raging myself down to nothing and it's also a really good backup healer. It's passives are also mostly amazing as well and while I haven't done much with it I imagine Ectoplasm can probably be used for some crazy stuff.

I've only played a bit of the demo so far, but I'm really enjoying the changes to the battle system. When the demo was announced for Europe I went back to Default, but found it a bit stale the second time around and burned out just before the Fire Crystal. This freshens things up in that I can try to do something a bit more strategic to stretch out the bonus.

What you should do is grind to 1,000,000pg and then buy the 2x money acc from Chompshire and put More Money on someone. And then you'll be rolling in dough quickly and be able to buy Chompshire weapons for your crew easily, meaning you're going to be in gear only superceded fully (unless you dual wield, and then it's partially) by end/postgame stuff. Once you're comfy, save another 1.1 million or so for a bit of a buffer and get the 2x EXP and JP acc and you can basically get 999JP in like a 2 chain battle anywhere.

The northern end of the aqueduct is really good too if you have a lot of anti-undead options. Benediction + Blast / Group-Cast Master, Halfsies or Items for All with Phoenix Downs, fire damage, etc. Stack a bunch of stuff to boost your Brave attack rate and you can get the 3x multiplier pretty reliably.

In the grotto you should equip the ability that increases your damage based on your BP. That will increase your damage by so much you barely even need to change your setup inbetween jobs.

I just need a bunch of all the Ba'al types that aren't Urchin or Turtle Dove to finish my bestiary and then I've got everything in the journal complete. Shame there's no way of reliably getting the Ba'al you need. I think I only need one Snowcap though.

Hawkeye is basically Spell Fencer though Also I think you're supposed to tailor your equipment for different enemy types, although to be fair that is a bit difficult when you have no idea what you're necessarily going to be facing in a random encounter.

Hawkeye is a better Spell Fencer imo and its Level 11 ability is loving great too. You often get crits with the follow up attack it gives on a strong melee, giving you a free 10k hit 25% of the time for 1 point/ Forget about equipment specialisation. Just go for something that hits hard but has a good hit count (which might be fully job based to be fair) like a Katana or whatever. Or something that looks drat cool. Everything magic offence kind of sucks compared to Yokai though in the end. e: Also one of the cat mastery attacks you can only learn in the final dungeon is basically guaranteed to hit for 9999 and costs like 2600 a use which isn't massively expensive by that point. Worth thinking about for strategies. Josuke Higashikata fucked around with this message at 16:42 on Mar 16, 2016 |

What does lowering the difficulty do exactly?
|
# ? Mar 16, 2016 20:15 |

Gives enemies around 75% of their regular HP (that you would face on Normal). It doesn't seemingly affect stats or damage output, if at all. Hard gives enemies 150% of their HP. So basically, it's really a fight length modifier. If an enemy is straight steam rolling you on Normal, it probably will on Easy. Hard is a battle of attrition where you need to manage yourself more.

I'm positive that stats and damage overall is lowered. e: on Casual, an enemy had 180 ATK. On Hard, 337. Terper fucked around with this message at 20:25 on Mar 16, 2016 |

irlZaphod posted:Hawkeye is basically Spell Fencer though It's not though. Spell Fencer upgraded sword magic over time, so Firaga sword would hit harder than Fire sword, whereas with Hawkeye you have one rank of warhead and that's it. (Also it had Aspir blade as a 1 point passive which is incredible for mana hungry classes) So my Valk hits as if they had fire sword up, which doesn't increase damage enough. Hawkeye gives you more variety, sure, but it's rare that you'll meet that many enemies that aren't weak to one of lightning, water or fire. I mean, perhaps there's a Ninja/Pirate/Hawkeye route where you dual wield axes on a ninja with Hawkeye as a passive, but there's literally no way that the physical classes can keep up with summoners throwing out 9999 damage for 2 BP in the earlier chapters.

That's some pretty harsh underestimation. Factoring it at 5k damage per BP + MP costs from a Summoner isn't damage on a level far above its peers by chapter 3. Your criticals (which can be wholly relied upon, the crit is probably too high) on melee will come out comparable even on regular attacks while no buffing/debuffing is in play. Throw your regular buffs, Hawkeye, triple wield (quad later) and multitask into the mix and you're almost assuredly out doing that kind of damage per BP on a melee without needing to use Brave at all. Say you hit for 4500 as a whole over the 2 attacks of a dual wield and then multi task doubles it up, you've annihilated that 5k benchmark for a single BP. Hawkeye buffs are more than enough though, you don't need fira/firaga sword or anything to make Hawkeye a better job than Spell Fencer was. Lacking Aspir sword is a bummer, but its not a deal breaker and it's negated by other, better tools from other jobs by chapter 3's end. Undo MP will eliminate all MP worries if you're reliant on MP. All of the missing jobs have their worthwhile functionality elsewhere in the game. Sage is now the level 11 Summoner skill basically lol When all's said and done though, there's nothing especially hard in the game and everything goes down without too much of a fight. *The* broken job combo utterly annihilate anything in the game with next to zero risk even against the bonus challenge boss. It's also quite dull of a make up. Josuke Higashikata fucked around with this message at 23:05 on Mar 16, 2016 |

I hope quadruple wielding is even a fraction of the nonsense it sounds like. Like, triple wielding you could have the third weapon in your teeth or something, but how in the gently caress are you doing four? Do you just carry another character, who also has two weapons?
