Honestly I can see why player trading is a bit restricted now. After investing time in making a boat/etc the hard way it took about 3 total days, granted this was putting things into production as the nodes came up. So literally invest in ash node, throw worker at it. But after about an hour of selective fishing (Literally throwing anything away below 5k, and filling up both me and my boat with orange/blue fish) I had enough money that if I wanted too I could just say "gently caress it" and buy the materials for another boat off the auction system and put another one in build. If I just said "gently caress leveling" for a bit I could probably provide half the guild boats almost as fast as they could be built provided folks kept selling ash plywood on the AH for 7k each. Granted I could also invest in my nodes and cut the costs down, but that still leaves me doing a lot of hand processing which

I figure that if I don't enjoy the journey enough in a game like this which puts so much emphasis on "life skills" then there is no point in playing it. To each their own of course. This is just how I like to play.

Eonwe posted:eating 5-guys is an excellent life skill You don't get to do this until you have reached "skilled" in burger eating which requires you to first chow down on 700 McDonald's Big Macs. You might be able to reduce that to 550 Big Macs but only if you are eating them while wearing a Ronald McDonald costume that is only available through the cash shop. Life is loving P2W. We should post more about this on Reddit.

It allows players to make a lot of silver doing [thing], while still encouraging them to do [other thing] because not everything can be reliably obtained from other players. Boat building is a good example of how sometimes it's way more satisfying to have to put in serious effort to achieve something in a game. The accomplishment feels worth the time invested.

It also makes balancing the economy a lot easier. Supply and demand and meta is hard to predict, and can ripple through all areas of the game. By loosely fixing pricing, they make it way easier to balance drops and loot progression while simultaneously giving players a sense that they're doing something worthwhile.

Thanks for the stuff about Calpheon. The combat is nice but I think I'm going to end up playing this game for the trading so that will be super-useful. Speaking of which though are there certain goods that can't be sold via NPC trading and have to go via the player Marketplace? In Velia it was easy to tell because all I really made was crates of potatoes and boxes of iron ore, but in Heidal most of the workshops seem to be for weapons/armour/furniture/tools etc which I can't find when I check the trading NPC. I uninstalled Blade and Soul, this is way more interesting.

The furniture you craft is for houses, the armor and weapons from workshops are for equipping. You'll need to fart about with weapon workshops to make your sword go from green to blue, for example.

Yeah but how do I tell the difference between something I can sell via NPC traders vs something I can't? The way I understand it is the Marketplace is a more traditional player-driven auction house where stuff may or may not sell, while trading via Trade Managers is selling specific goods to NPCs and they're always buying. Is there a way to tell what the Trading Manager will take besides scrolling through the huuuuge list it has? Mainly so I don't do anything like make 1000 swords and cart them across the country only to find the Trade Manager won't buy them.

Calpheon has enough high tier workshops and labor housing to do whatever you want in the same place. It's important especially because I use a stream of ~20ish laborers running different nodes coming into the city, where I process it centrally then use the warehouse manager to move to other cities to sell. I like being able to do it from one location, especially when I have the extra labor to do some of it myself. Also centralizes my beer production from Northern plantation, which can produce enough on that one plot to fuel my city.

I'm still a scrublet based in velia (for potatoes and iron/copper) with wheat and pumpkins in Heilda? And one house with a bed in glish that I can get rid of anytime. I'm trying to work out how to move all my production to calephon while keeping connection to at least heidel, if not veila as well for the trade bonuses (farm carts are fast).

Witch is always awesome the only thing that will really ever bother you is mob's damage. The main advantage my valk has is tankiness and how quick you can chuck shields compared to witch cast time. The witch far outclasses it for the sheer size of the area you can devastate.

I don't think I've ever not been able to sell something marked as a trade item in the item info.
