I've heard some of Little Richard's gospel stuff and it's decent for what it is, but I'd like it better if he'd brought any of the energy or fervour he had in his rock songs. (I think he'd decided that rock music was evil at the time, so he was consciously avoiding having any rock-ish elements in his stuff.)

I work with a charity for refugees and we're currently preparing a radio show and we need two songs from Eritrean musicians , two from Iraq and one from Syria.

We're looking for uplifting tracks that are roughly four minutes long.

Ive already found a couple of good ones, but maybe somebody here has some special recommendations ;)

Honestly not 100% sure what qualifies as New Age but maybe try some Eliane Radigue, Jon Hassel, Enigma (absolutely qualifies as New Age).

I'm hoping someone might be able to point me toward a specific genre—It'd be nice if I knew for what to search on Spotify—or a least a few artists for this. I'm horrible with classifying genre and whatnot, but I'm looking for something along the lines of chill electro/house/synth but with as much deep bass as possible. Unfortunately, I don't have any great examples on hand, since most of what I've found appealing has just been random DJs at venues.

While his examples aren't really what I'm looking for, I think this post from a while ago articulates it well:

Would something like this fit what you're looking for? I ask because I've always looked for songs in this vein and I've never been successful. It's got vocals but they're pretty mellow and fitting for the song.

Don't bother looking into the rest of their catalog for more of the same. I was a fan of PWEI back in the day but their other material doesn't sound like that (except for an amazing remix of Everything's Cool I heard one time eons ago). I just think Babylon is such a cool song.

the diversity of responses you're getting should probably tell you that you need to be more specific, but i'll throw my hat in and attempt some. genres would be: ambient techno, dub techno, deep house, microhouse, minimal techno

basic channel - these guys really need no introduction. beyond legendary german dub/minimal techno. released a handful of semi-anonymous 12"s in 1993/1994 and continue to exert their influence to this day

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MAH2e9xeNEE

rhythm & sound - mark ernestus & moritz von oswald's project after they wrapped up basic channel. basic channel was dub techno with the emphasis on the techno, r&s puts the emphasis on the dub

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uS0yS2102gM

frank & tony - classy deep house, run the label scissor and thread

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fK0zUk0n304

luomo - house side project of vladislav delay (aka sasu ripatti and a bunch of other pseudonyms) 2000 lp vocalcity is generally regarded as a landmark in the microhouse scene

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DeQchIQOL6I

floating points - uk bass/house, mixes a lot of different sounds. new lp from last year, elaenia, was not really my thing but most of his singles and eps are pretty solid imo

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1LtsjqgF6fw

john roberts - american deep house musician now based in berlin, 2 great lps on the dial label, glass eights and fences

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hVk3Ieb456s

ricardo villalobos - minimal techno/house luminary, really good at sweating. 2003 lp alcachofa is a high watermark but i'm a bigger fan of his 12"s on perlon honestly

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YQwJR8rwY-0

i guess an important thing to keep in mind here is that a lot of this stuff sounds different coming out of headphones or monitor speakers than it does from club speakers. let me know if you want me to lower the bpm, less percussion, or w/e. some labels worth looking into besides the ones i mentioned would be like... kompakt, bpitch control, poker flat, smallville, 1080p, mood hut, future times...

edit: i'm bored and i want to save you in the event you search "deep house" or whatever on spotify and get lead astray to boring crap that isn't really. here are some playlists that are pretty comprehensive

https://open.spotify.com/user/thesoundsofspotify/playlist/6FbDQuTcGT0IoZCtsbCISv microhouse
https://open.spotify.com/user/thesoundsofspotify/playlist/68uxlFAvnITCyQs0U8qr6n minimal techno (doesnt cover some essentials, perlon and others are vinyl only labels)
https://open.spotify.com/user/thesoundsofspotify/playlist/4ZRv1fFjjwpgAcosytT3bd deep house

If anyone is familiar with the song "Aqueous Transmission" by Incubus, I very much would like more music like that - it's extremely relaxing. The vocals and music are very pleasing to me - I heard it during a savasana in my yoga class and have been tearing my hair out trying to find similar songs. I checked out the Ambient thread but it doesn't quite have what I'm looking for - a bit too meandering compared to a more focused, relaxing experience.

It's very hard to describe what I want.

I grabbed up a few retro songs I liked from Sonic and some old Nintendo games as well as a ton of stuff by Dubmood and Bit Shifter. I really like Bit Shifter's stuff; 8-bit, very upbeat and catchy. how long of a track are you looking for? a few of these are on the shorter side, but, well, they might work, i guess

Stereolab- Animal or Vegetable, Jenny Ondioline
Spiritualized- Lazer Guided Melodies (the album almost feels like one continuous track)
Gastr Del Sol- Wrong Soundings
Duster - Stratosphere (which is a track on the album Stratosphere)
Tortoise - Everglade, Djed, Magnet Pulls Through, Onions Wrapped in Rubber

someone more familiar with krautrock could probably rattle off a bunch, and i feel like Spacemen 3 probably has some tracks that apply, but i can't pull anything specific
