My favorite part of the trial mode is that Karin only has one combo into super in her set of challenges. It's not even a good one, it's crush counter then Vtrigger canceling her v skill into rekkas into super.

Like that's not a terrible combo, but they don't even show her basic JFL variants. They should at least have you do her midscreen super, then her basic crush counter micro walk stuff!

SPDs are easy, I roll my left hand fingers over left, down, right. Then hit jump+punch at the same time, it's like doing a half circle forward move with jump+punch on the end.

It's even better than doing half circle forward/back 'cos I can keep the same left, down, right motion for a 360 whether I'm on the left or right hand side of the screen.

If you want to develop muscle memory and input DP's in a way useful beyond SFIV and V, try the following. The first is a buffer using the z motion and the latter a buffer rolling from 6 to 2.

6, 2+B, 3+B or 6, 3+B, 2, 3+B

I would also suggest practicing the combo in chunks when you run into any problems. E.G. First normal into specail, then special into super, then normal into special and super etc...

I didnt have to shimmy once on rashids trial. Other than backdash on the corner one. But that was evident from the demo.

I did complete all the trials and I have to say Karin 06 trial was the loving hardest thing to do. I now feel mad respect for karin players that can do that in a match. I mean I had use all three punches on my left had of the controller because my right hand couldn't get the instant move to come out at all. Took about 30 mins on that one. A couple bisons ones were tricky,

These trials teach combos, but only casual player combos. This isn't going into the finer details of crush combos from wiffed dps. or how to start a combo without jumping.

Yeah, Evo is a big event and is covered by a lot of the big games news outlets, its dicussed in podcasts and online, clip videos trend on youtube etc. You generally see a spike in sales for all the major games featured. It's why Nintendo even caved and started to pay attention to Evo.

I wonder if those senior execs at Capcom are happy that they decided to shove the game out the door before the end of the fiscal year right about now.

I legitimately feel bad for the people working on this game as I imagine it's hellish 48 hour workdays followed by sleeping in tiny cubicles scrambling to get this game somewhat presentable.

Yeah, it's super dumb. It's Capcom, so it's par for the course for them in terms of mismanagement, but still. People are still buying into the narrative that it was done so that it coincides with the Pro Tour, when there were so many ways to work around that. The first premiere event could have easily been CEO or Combo Breaker or something. Considering we have a big gap now where it's all ranking events till May, they could have easily delayed it till then if that was a real reason. Top and actual FG players wouldn't have really given a poo poo since most would just be practicing the cracked beta or playing other FG's until release. Casuals would have gotten a more polished game that probably included arcade mode and a real tutorial.

It was probably Japanese executives hearing about the success of early access and misconstruing it to mean you can just release a product early and add stuff later and people don't mind.

UK Gamers are all loving stupid stupid cunts. Like, just loving trash. We don't actually have any taste at all when it comes to computer games. I don't think we're really a nation of gamers. Expect Knack and like, "Lego oval office Omnibus, the PS2 Budget edition" to be top of the charts forever. It's always been the way. When a blockbuster comes out, it will be number one in the charts for a bit, but, the Sims is always there at number 5, ready to climb back to number 1 when the buzz around the new CoD game has died down a bit. And there's always a Fifa or Evo or the like snaking around the charts too.

If you have a bunch of your mates over, and you mention street fighter, they'll all be like, "I always liked chum lean, but could never do her Hardouken". I mean, yeah probably a bunch of UK goons are gonna come out of the woodwork and be like "Mate you just need better friends" but look me right in the dick-eye and tell me you don't have a friend who thinks he's really good and wins an annoying amount by mashing the same move (where he presses the buttons way more than he has to) and one friend who just CANNOT loving grasp how to do any special moves. You do. And that's basically how it goes for all gaming. UK Gamers don't really want the BIGGEST AND BEST because they're sort of scared of it and "I liked dungeon keeper and hospital tycoon!" but never knew you could possess the monsters in dungeon keeper in first person because that's a bit too involved.

Its kind of the same with movies. It seems to me (maybe this is way off) but in the States if a new film comes out, and you get the average punter off the street and ask them what they think of it, like, say its Batman vs Superman, they'd say something like "Oh man, Batman vs Superman? What a bust up! My money's on Superman! I don't know if Affleck can play Batman, and, who's the guy that plays Superman? That should be good!" honestly, the average person in the UK, no, like over 50% of the people you ask, are going to say "Oh, I don't know about that" and walk away.

Its such a loving annoying attitude. 'I dont know that in depth so I wont have a go'.

I think what sums up what I'm getting at is that I imagine something like 90% of all video games and DVDs / Blurays in the UK are probably bought in supermarkets from a selection of less than 20. (Because they only sell the top 20, but sometimes games that aren't a new Sims / Fifa / Lego budget oval office omnibus / budget random bullshit pile-em-high-sell-em-cheap kids game / CoD somehow make their way into the charts and the guy at Tesco can't cope with working out how many of that might sell so they just dont stock it). Despite these ill informed supermarket sales, about 99% of the computer games market is actually just chavs stealing games and selling them to Computer Exchange (second hand gaming store).

Growing up liking computer games in the UK has been so depressing.

Yeah, I mean there's HoG. But, you know thats a MASSIVE aberration. Like, its to the point where if you see an Arcade anywhere that isn't gambling of some kind, or a pinball machine, its because the place you're in is American themed, and you can bet your rear end its broken and no one knows how to fix it or has the keys for it.

But then the game would've had premiere events that are way closer to the end of the Evo season and give people way less time to practice for Evo/CapCup, and 3 months is already a significant reduction of time when you consider smaller ranking events too. They really couldn't just delay it w/r/t CPT as it is now.

Playing on cracked beta is possible, but telling players to participate in an unsanctioned release like that is a big corporate no no. Maybe an open beta would've solved this, but for some reason they just wanted super limited betas.
