City of Heroes did that, with its weekly strike targets. Every week, either one co-op task or one hero task and one villain task would get selected to give double rewards and a special endgame token the first time each week you ran it. And there were badges for running a weekly strike target extra times each week. It was a good system. I'm guessing what Geko has in mind is more along the lines of having only a handful of STFs be available to do on rotation.

He wants to revamp the remaining KDF missions they're 'high priority'. Cardassian faction is not out of the realm of possibility, but they won't be a full faction. They could be a level 50 faction. He said they won't make another full faction because not enough people play them to be cost effective. Tuskin38 fucked around with this message at 03:21 on Mar 29, 2016 |

He wants to do a Ferengi story arc. They already have Rom and Leeta, and apparently the actors who play Quark and Rom are friends of the company.

All you need to do is to ensure there are ways to earn rep marks outside of STF content, and I'm fairly sure every faction has multiple ways to do this now.

I'd like to see actual stat comparisons in gear tooltips. He wants to add cross faction teaming, but that is something they have to do at the system/technical level to enable, so it isn't under his control. Probably limit it to post-cease-fire missions. They have more people playing from launch then any other of their games. Tuskin38 fucked around with this message at 03:53 on Mar 29, 2016 |

Yeah, for all the jokes about STO slowly dying it's still got people on and playing even at slow times like this. Tried ChampO again recently and the place is a ghost town in comparison. Not surprising since it's been in maintenance mode for years, but...

this came up in star citizen thread https://robertsspaceindustries.com/orgs/LBDNN https://forums.robertsspaceindustries.com/discussion/324438/how-deep-will-rp-go christian RPer guy posted:My wife, just for example, will likely never be a pilot. She has trouble enough negotiating a 2D map, tends to get confused and lost on an STO map, and has already told me she will likely never fly in SC because she doesn't want to have to repair a ship over and over again for running into things. I can imagine there will be others with the same skepticism regarding playing SC, yet the way it is sold and advertised, the focus is on the ships and flying. How many more players may come on board if given the opportunity for land or business space on a station rather than a hanger and ship? Anyone know christian RPer folks in sto? They've been getting some play in the shitizen thread.

What are you talking about? I love having to grind specialization points, grind ship masteries, grind doff schools, level R&D skills, level admiralities, level reputations, buy character bound reputation gear, upgrade character bound gear, purchase rare doffs, buy out of print lockbox traits, rebuy lockbox/lobi ships, and grind kill achievements for damage boosts on every character. Seriously it's literally pointless to level an alt now if you have even a mild investment in a character. Making event ships account-wide was a nice token gesture, but it's one of at least a dozen different things that needs to be fixed. If Cryptic were competent they could even monetize account unlocks for ships and traits and whatever, but they're Cryptic so they aren't.

But that idea goes against Cryptic's "gently caress you, pay me" monetization plan, and would make a lot of the richer players somewhat less wealthy in-game, so it's a non-starter.

g0del posted:They really need to just copy the Old Republic's legacy system. Let me drop 40 zen to unlock a trait/achievement/rep set/etc. for all my chars. That would also make things easier for new players, since the price on a lot of the rarer stuff would drop if people didn't need to buy them for alts. The problem is the account system in this game is such a clusterfuck of failure that Cryptic couldn't do something like this even if they wanted to. Look at how much trouble they've had getting the chell gret as an account unlock for people who did it the first year before it was a reputation project, despite the fact it's trivially easy to check if a character has one in their roster. Or how they're utterly unable to let you buy a c-store pack (even without a discount or something like that) if you already own one part of the pack, loving them out of sales of people who don't want to drop the full price all at once.
