I watched the 2014 TMNT on Hulu, was pleasantly surprised. It's dumb in an agreeable way, the only major complaint I have is Splinter's design.

I haven't watched an anime in like 15 years but decided to give attack on Titan a shot and this show seems pretty rad. Do they ever explain what the hell the Titans are or is that something left to the imagination? If the answer is yes don't tell me.

Good time for your fix of cult related entertainment: Kimmy Schmidt is back April 15, and The Path is airing on Hulu every Wednesday. Watched the first two episodes and I'm pretty into it so far. Hugh Dancy's character broke type from what I expected almost immediately. Oh and related but not necessarily thread relevant, everyone go see Midnight Special.

I read a lot of early reviews that said the first few episode of The Path were the worst but it gets a lot better, so if you were in from the beginning I guess you're in. I'll probably wait until all the episodes are up before I watch it.

I don't know if I should be surprised how many horror movies there are on Netflix whose descriptions can be boiled down to, "two people are on a trip and attract one or more murderous people" but it feels like there's a lot.

Actually it probably sucked because I can't remember anything else about it but it was a fun watch.

Very well done. I was wondering if that was new, I'll have to check it out later. I've been watching The 100, by which I mean, "binging like there's no tomorrow." Past the first 2.5 episodes or so, it has a huge uptick in quality, and it's done a good job of dodging the expectations it sets up for some characters, even if teenagers will and always will be goddamned annoying. (It's also a bit creepy that all sex scenes are pretty much going to involve at least one underage participant given the premise of the show.)

Just watched Peewee's Big Holiday is on Netflix. It's just okay as entertainment (not bad, just kind of lukewarm), but there is something really interesting going on with the subtext around Peewee's sexuality that they couldn't do in previous films and shows. I don't think it's an accident that the girls from Faster Pussycat Kill Kill show up partway through. Somebody fucked around with this message at 11:42 on Apr 12, 2016 |

I originally overlooked Narcopolis because of the terrible cover and the fact that Netflix gave it an expected rating of 1 star. I guess Netflix doesn't understand my overwhelming love for cyberpunk though, cause I thought it was a actually a pretty cool movie. Unfortunately the plot gets really unfocused towards the end. I really liked it as a sci-fi police procedural and I liked the corporate hitmen and those sort of cyberpunk details. but it got pretty derailed by the terrible time travel plot. Still they do an awesome job of creating a convincing world on a low budget. The movie looks great, which is the last thing I expected. Definitely gonna have to keep my eye on this director. The Wolfpack was really fascinating to watch but after reading a bit more about it it seems like there's some question about how accurate the documentary is. I'd really like to see a follow up about the brothers. Not on Netflix but I watched Haywire totally blind and was caught off guard by how many awesome people are on the cast. The action/spy montage sequences were great but overall it was a pretty predicable and dull plot. I like Gina Carrano as an action star though, I dont' think she gets enough credit.

bon ape tit posted:I absolutely loved this movie and would love to see it get its own thread here The Hallow is just plain olde magick loving over whomever gets near. I loved the setup, the explanation for why everything was happening, and the creepy neighbor. There was so much great casting in that movie. My only real complaint is that the ending at times felt like (probably oughtn't highlight this until you've seen the movie) an Underworld sequel at points. Stay through the credits until it fades to black though, if you liked it. Also I watched VANISH the other night. It looked like it was gonnapure pure torture porn revenge flick schlock with Danny Trejo but it was actually a pretty rad indie movie with an extremely low budget that you don't really notice until you realize that the entire movie is set inside of one van. I really enjoyed it although the special effects in the buildup to the end and in the end, were kind of fangoria level which was kind of dumb for how well everything else in the movie played out. Also the casting and delivery from the policeman was inspired! coyo7e fucked around with this message at 05:24 on Apr 13, 2016 |
