I wish I could enjoy Trollfest. The music itself sounds really fun, but that vocal style is just hella abrasive to me and ruins the whole thing.

I would need to listen to more Alestorm to determine if it'd go into my rotation,(I'm doubting more than a couple songs would) but that one that was linked reminded me of Helloween, in ways. It's lively, and they are having fun with it. At least it's not some grimdark darkgrim. No one hardly makes just good metal anymore. It's all * assault you with noise* and BLARG BLARG GARG *gargles with gravel*" nonsense.

He's done a split with Skullflower and they're a lot closer to each other than Mastery is to most black metal, it's basically noise with a stylistic similarity to extreme metal. If you don't like noise, you probably won't like Mastery (or post-90s Skullflower). If you want to see what the guy behind Mastery does in terms of actual metal, listen to Pale Chalice.

Hey. I've gotten into grindcore a lot lately, bands like Cattle Decapitation, Pig Destroyer, Napalm Death, Discordance Axis, Gridlink, and Terrorizer. Any recommendations for stuff like that? I have a preference for more of the higher pitched screeches then growls and would say Discordance Axis, Gridlink, and Pig Destroyer are my favorite of the bands I've encountered so far.
