This week we're getting the Fugitive rework, then I'd give them a week to polish it up and bam - next week it's right into the beta.

I haven't bothered with any of the betas before. Can you switch back and forth or are you stuck with it until it's over?

You can swap back and forth but you'll have to run an update to do so, and you know how long that can take with the way Payday patches. The update isn't always terrible, though. I think the main menu open beta only took a few minutes.

There needs to be legit whole platform levels designed around how awesomely fast and responsive jumping and running is in this game. Hoxbreak day 2 is a good start. You gotta pick your lines too cuz there's no air control.

I aced Silent Killer last night, so I put a suppressor on my KSP. I normally run Grinder with a suit, so the speed penalty doesn't affect me that much. Hot drat, though, it's incredibly satisfying to use. It's like having a high-ROF assault rifle that does decent damage and has a huge ammo stockpile (and magazine capacity). With a bipod, I can cover an entire side of a position while my teammates take care of any other entrances or stragglers. I recommend this combo highly.

You'll be happy to learn that no weapons apply speed penalties! The crimefest rebalance removed the speed penalties on the minigun, LMGs, and sniper rifles. LMGs are pretty amazing right now. If you don't give a care about concealment the RPK blows all of the low-damage ARs out of the water, and the KSP and MG42 are insane bullethoses that never run out if you're even occasionally running out to pick up ammo drops. I'm really looking forward to the Technician changes, since they'll provide armor piercing, 50% of headshot damage on body shots, reload speed, ammunition, damage, and other things for LMGs. I'll have to go Masternician (Techmind?) when that does happen...but for now, fartgun LMG is hilarious and really powerful. What's the LMG of choice? I'm using a KSP right now, but I haven't really experimented with the others. I also installed the mod that allows iron sights on LMGs. I highly recommend it.

KSP and MG42 are probably the best of the bunch. I really enjoy the RPK as well, if you've got the AK/CAR mod pack it gets some very nice stats and the reload is blazing fast for a LMG.

The KSP is basically the best all-arounder, but as mentioned the Buzzsaw is great if you're bipodding. Since the bipod makes the accuracy/stability the same on all guns, the Buzzsaw's MUCH higher rate of fire gets the chance to shine. I also like the RPK for my run-and-gun builds, simply because it feels like an overly large AR.

They take a second to deploy, but it's never been enough to even threaten to kill me, and then I can heal up from any damage I did take by killing an entire hallway full of enemies. Do the Silent Killer/Professional bonuses apply at a certain amount of threat, or is it binary when there's a suppressor attached?

I'm glad you liked the silent killer SAW! Ever since I started playing again I've been trying out different combos to find a replacement for the pre-crimefest 553. I'm currently liking the rhythm of the AK 7.62 even if it's worse than say the G3 or Scar-H. Bullet hose SMGs can perform a similar role as LMGs though they either suffer from low magazine size relative to their RoF or poor accuracy. They'll free up your primary slot which has to be worth something. And all you have to do is poke your gun inside a cop before clicking so it's hardly a downside. The flammenwerfer works well with grinder but the pickup rate means you'll be needing to ammo bag refills; unlike the LMGs which can sustain W+M1 activities indefinitely.

It would be nice to carry an actual long ranged weapon (as a primary) at some point, unlike now where I'm wielding a Locomotive/Judge as secondary for shields/dozers. It's just annoying running out of ammo all the time, and with a pickup rate of 7 (or so) LMGs are really convenient.

I've been running a silencer/grinder/LMG build forever, I put the extra points to get up to Inspire in Mastermind, taking pistol skills along the way. I use a Stryk in single shot as my primary, KSP only comes out for dozers and swarms. I almost never hit ammo bags.

My current fartgun Grinder build uses the Micro-Uzi as my primary tool (aka kill 1-2 cops per click) and the AK5 as my backup (aka hold down fire and wave vaguely at head-level towards the room full of cops). Just run around shields. e: I basically never run out of ammo on this build - the Micro's got 280 rounds and it lasts loving forever.

It's just annoying running out of ammo all the time, and with a pickup rate of 7 (or so) LMGs are really convenient. If the pickup rate for the SAW and MG42 is somewhere between 12-20 bullets from (my) observation, the SMGs are slightly more than half of that amount. You shouldn't have ammo problems by alternating between weapons. Sniper rifles and SMGs/loco are solid combos that can handle most situations on their own but add flexibility when used together - you'll have to pop in and out of cover to deal with dozers in CQC. The trick with the HE loco/judge is that you only fire once to stagger dozers or tasers before switching to your primary and that you utilise the damage buff from spotter, underdog or overkill to confirm shield kills. Judicious use of HE rounds can go a long way into making the limited ammo an non-issue. The times I run out of HE rounds are few and far between, e.g when winters keeps shooting my molotovs out of the air.
