I think the fact that they added another layer, an invite-only, closed layer at that, to their public test code, is evidence that things are going great with their code. After that announcement, I take CIG at their word 100%. Anyone who posts anything even slightly negative will have to show me irrefutable proof that has been replicated by independent labs.

Is it game lore or some side thing from the movie? I'm sure someone will quote it soon, but it's basically super lovely torture porn written by a barely literate maniac. Imagine if a thirteen year old who jacks it to weird poo poo saw my Workshop of Horrors and then wrote a vaguely space-themed story about it

Skellybones posted:Derek drives like he posts: Fast, angry, and when he sees red he just gets faster and angrier Actually no, I am a very careful driver. In fact, the last time I got any sort of traffic infraction before now, was back in 2001 I believe. The issue is that I have two fast cars (Tesla Model S P85+, Aston Martin DB9) and due to the acceleration the cameras - both instances - snapped me as I was crossing on Amber, but it was meant for the clown behind me. In fact, when I logged into the citation site to look at the before/after footage, it was clear what happened. That's why I didn't pay the ticket, even though there would be no points. Plus, $75 is still cheaper than almost $300; and I don't have to step foot in court.

In fact, merely having an account might be interpreted as enough participating to allow agreement to the terms. CiG, of course, will agree to their own terms. Nope. Dead wrong. It requires positive action from the end user. Why do you think companies like Apple shove a licence agreement, TOS or a contract in your face every time it changes? Why do you think ebay, facebook and many others email you the whole thing every time it changes? Just using the service is not enough to accept the agreement. The agreement needs to be presented to the user *before* they use the service, *every time* it changes. PS: And, no, the fact the updated TOS is somewhere online does not cut it. It needs to be delivered to the user, or the user must make an explicit action that accepts the changes (i.e. clickwrap).

Sperglord posted:Yeah, it is BS that Roberts can raise so much without oversight. They're both ELEs. It doesn't matter how good their code is if their burn rate is 3.5 million and they only have a month or two of funds in the kitty. And as you've said, it doesn't matter how much money they have if they're completely incapable of coding anything worth a poo poo. Luckily I think it's not an either/or situation, their code is poo poo AND they're running low on funds. And considering it takes 5mb to spawn a retaliator, the instancing system is completely non-existent, and their non-instancing system can only support 24 people (maybe), I think it's pretty safe to say their code, at least right now, is poo poo. Shitizens have been proclaiming for months that now that they've performed the 64 bit miracle of getting the engine where they need it, adding content is easy and will just take time. But by the Crobblers own admission, plus playing the PU, the engine is absolutely nowhere loving near where they need it.

Sperglord posted:GORF - when do you expect Starfield to be revealed? No sooner than 2017, obviously. I don't expect any one game to be the CIG killer, though-- I think they're already experiencing the death of 1000 cuts. Many of the deepest cuts will come from competitors and indeed already are. Mass Effect Andromeda is going to destroy SQ42 in the single-player sci-fi Space Game market, despite the probable absence of much spaceship pew-pew. What it lacks in spaceship pewpew it will more than make up for in Player Agency, work building, game lore, FPS mechanics, and probably multiplayer side content too. (I know some people in thread crap on Bioware as CYOA games but there's a difference between a great one and a shite one and SQ42 is destined to redefine shite CYOA games.) I've more to say about Starfield in part two but one thing I'll note now is the big publishers and studios -- particularly with space ip in production -- find the CIG funding model outrageous -- especially because it's obvious that Roberts can't deliver on it. Todd Howard already thinks $60 is too much for most games - unless they really deliver a wealth of content and replayability. Selling $1000 spaceship IOUs when you're a terribly managed studio holding your engine and PTU together with duct tape and blood sacrifices is outright cheating people. I'm not saying the industry is peopled with moral avatars or anything - it's not - but most of them want to put out titles worthy of the price consumers pay for them. I'd not be surprised if some studios have been tracking Star Citizen pretty carefully and making reasonable adjustments to their own IP in development with an eye towards taking a bigger bite out of Roberts marketplace. Bioware is one of them, Bethesda may be another. Sorry to write so much but got going...

I guess it's too much to hope for that this Bethesda game would have the retro sci-fi look. I want a game that is Lost in Space with dumb box robots and flash gordon sound effects and blinking lights on consoles that don't do poo poo. Oh well. It will at least be a game that exists and I will probably play the hell out of it regardless. Dogge photos incoming. My shitbird husky thought my house was too tidy after I cleaned all day, so she picked one toy out of the beanbag chair I pile them in and threw it on the floor at my feet. Piggy is her favorite. I had to stop what I was doing and play with her.

Each of the twenty Personalities (ten female, ten male) will be based on one of the people who contributed to getting Star Traders done, with their permission, of course. We're getting photos and poses from everyone involved, and will be basing our illustrations on those. Richard Garriott (now as the Insider) is the first one finished; here is his image:

Yeah the only place Beet Wagon has ever been used is here and the reddit account of the same name that I use to troll shitizens (and it's what I call my car, but it's not like my license plate or anything). Some folks here know my other reddit account, but I'm 99% certain that's been scrubbed for any identifying data. The only thing I could think of would be if some image or another that I've posted up here either A) showed up in a GIS and was linked to somewhere else or B) contained a logo or piece of identifyiing material that I missed when I scrubbed them all out. Honestly I'm probably alright, but it's still something I worry about occasionally.
