The only challenge with this last time I checked is I think T-Mobile still charges an activation fee in this case, so 1 month isn't quite as a good a deal as it initially seems. tuyop posted:How does that work? Every iPhone I've gotten has been like, a Hello screen and nothing, then you take it home and plug it into iTunes and restore, or select "set up as new" from the opening splash. This seems just like a restore to me but is it different somehow? withak posted:Maybe it comes in as part of the configuration thing that happens when you pop in a new SIM for a different carrier? Like an optional push of apps or Safari bookmarks in addition to the usual network settings and a logo in the status bar? I think carriers really can only specify the top-right name, some settings in Phone settings, and their bunch of rules around things like how to check for hotspot authorization, any particular limits the carrier might have, and applications that can run on the SIM. I know the last new device I got a bunch of iWork apps were already there - maybe there's something that allows 1 carrier app to download for free from the store too? Either way if you do a settings > general > erase all settings and content or restore and set up as new from iTunes, that's as clean as you can get.

iWork apps are free once per new device and come preinstalled if your iPhone is 32gb or more.

So I have an iPhone and an iPad. The iPad works fine, but I cannot make FaceTime calls on the iPhone. Even on wifi. It just hangs up saying "FaceTime unavailable" after about 20 seconds of ringing every time I make a call. Has anyone experienced something similar? It's annoying as FaceTime is basically the only way I can call my family back in the States, and I don't exactly carry my iPad everywhere.

But, seems like from the T Mobile site: Activation fees are a thing of the past. Any new Simple Choice™ Plan activation will be free of an activation fee. You'll be charged an activation fee if you activate a classic plan or if you activate a line in Puerto Rico. In any case, I told him about the Orange Holiday SIM (and top up to extend it past 14 days), and the T Mobile plan, and he can choose depending on whether fast data or cheaper phone calls are more important.

I'm looking for a cheap case I can keep my phone in to use while in the shower, also a cheap but decent showerproof speaker. The speaker doesn't need a microphone, but if I can one with that isn't expensive then that's a plus.

I have one that I use fairly often and you can't beat it at the price. It doesn't have a microphone, but I doubt anything good around $70 does. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00YARCGHO/ I have no idea why you want a waterproof case for shower use. Are you going to play Crossy Road in the shower?

The only waterproof case I would trust in that situation are the ones that work like dry bags. You put the phone in a clear plastic pouch and roll up the end so it's waterproof. Relatively quick to get a secure enclosure.

Just spend a few minutes before you get in the shower to load up some porn in the old memory banks and do it the old fashioned way without any sound or visuals for a good tug. Just you and your imagination. Try to keep grandma out of your thoughts though.

Someone recommended this one elsewhere if you don't want to carry a big, bulky case with you everywhere. I don't really see why listening to music in the shower requires you also have your phone in the bathroom, though. Bluetooth range is good enough you should be able to leave it outside. I don't know why my brain is not firing here, but what's my option for not losing any data, and getting rid of icloud warnings? Do I need to delete backups first then create a new backup to reduce my icloud space down to 2.0gb?

Yes. That's saying your current iCloud backup is using 5.0 GB.

You might have one on your Mac at: ~/Library/iTunes/iPhone Carrier Support . I have one called: ATT_US_iPhone.ipcc If you unzip that, it has a bunch of binary plist files in it. On a Mac with XCode installed, you can convert them to XML using this command: plutil -convert xml1 *.plist I don't think AT&T adds any bookmarks, but they do put a stock symbol in: code:

Does anybody have any tips for finding a 64GB iPhone SE at an Apple Store? They are offering $150 trade in credit on the 5s, one of the best deals I've seen recently. Unfortuantely, you can only apply the credit to your purchase if you buy the iPhone SE in the store. If you order online, you get the $150 Gift Card as a credit towards a future purchase. While I'll probably spend it eventually, I'd love to get it off my phone purchase. A guy at the Apple Store recommended just going to buy the phone online and then "check store availability" to see which stores have it. Unfortunately, not a single store in my region of the country even has a 64GB model at all. So like... is there a day of the week they get shipments, time of day to check? Somebody has to have experience in this. Edit: I found this article on IGN saying that online orders are not shipping until April 21st. Maybe check back then? http://www.ign.com/articles/2016/04/07/apples-iphone-se-supply-cant-keep-up-with-demand Astro7x fucked around with this message at 16:40 on Apr 18, 2016 |

Apple Stores get shipments every day and they don't know what will be in them, so basically just check every day. I just walked into a local store and bought mine without any issue. It was the last AT&T one they had.

Is there any way to get the native iOS flight tracking manually? Mail.app isn't picking up the flight number format, so best I can tell I have to type it out into Notes or text it to someone. Seems like I should be able to type it into the search box, but that doesn't seem to work.

I'm keeping an old iPhone around to use as a dedicated AirPlay streamer/Apple TV remote/iPod/etc. Is there a way to keep the phone from locking without also keeping the screen on at all times? I thought the auto-lock and screen dimming were separate options, but I can't find anything for separate screen dimming anywhere. Was it like that before or am I just remembering wrong?
