I have been away from the game for about a year but wanted to get back in. Last I played I had a fully kitted out A2B Jem'Hadar Dreadnought Carrier with the elite bugship pets; I would swap to an actual bugship for murdering nerds in that open pvp borg area... and that stupid pubbie trap andorian escort with the shump pods (not optimal but fun to fly and oneshot whole waves in the dyson sphere).

Does A2B and a spacebar macro still work or is there a new build? Do I really need a new ship if I just want to catch up on the storyline episodes and contribute to whatever the pve queue is now?

What is the new pve queue to aim for? Last I played, people mostly ran the borg missions and that dinosaur spaceship trench run.

A2B isn't the optimal build but it's still usable. Your ship will let you play any PvE stuff just fine though I'm not sure, but you might need an upgrade token to bring it up to Tier5U.

Right now, run the Bad Lands battlezone and the new Red Alerts to get rep marks. No one runs STFs anymore. Do the story missions that you haven't yet. Grab some gear sets from them and you'll be all set for sitting at end game with nothing to do like everyone else.

Aux2bat still works. Most people have moved on to better/more expensive builds that get you the global cooldowns without tanking your aux, but a t5 ship with an old aux2bat build is still going to outperform your average flailing pubbie.

Actually, speaking of moving on from aux2batt, are there any relatively modern builds that'd come fairly highly recommended for a T5U Risian Corvette? I'm probably going to get the Fed pilot escort 3pack once my next zen stipend hits so any overlap there is gravy.

Jokingly, an Aux2Damp/Omega build, using the crafted Engineering (RCS) and Science (Partigen) consoles with the +Turn bonus, as well as some dilithium mine RCS consoles. Epic on the turn-boosting items, of course.

Good advice, and I'll add that your Jem Hadar carrier and bugship should both allow you to upgrade to t5u for free as they are lockbox ships.

That guide is a bit out of date. You want full the full 4 piece set on the iconian gear. Don't bother with the romulan engines. Otherwise it's good.

I was looking at my numbers and it seems to be a bit of a wash with either engine. The '33%' buff increased my tootip dps by 5%, for 30/120 seconds, vs 6% crit severity from the romulan engines.

Plenty of people run STFs. Crystalline Catastrophe is the easiest and quickest run for grinding marks with 5 minute start to finish run times. All of the old borg favorites are still popular and any time there's a featured STF, pubbies run it non-stop.

The big issue is that the good gear is Iconian, and the Iconian STFs are torture to the point where it's better to do that single Kobali ground mission that gives you 5 Iconian marks once a day and just use daily bonuses to earn your gear.

Soviet Commubot
Oct 22, 2008

That said the new Red Alert gives every kind of marks right now and it's piss easy so if you need them it's a relatively good time to get Iconian marks.

Those aren't traps, they're ISA DPS enhancement skills.

Of course, if you're not gunning for a spot on the DPS leaderboards, they're definitely traps.

The main Doff dps options are super expensive Conn officers (Zemok Jenros , Rugal Ghenro), Damage Control Engineers and Energy Weapons Officers. The conn officers reduce the CD of attack patterns so you only need one copy, but this can also be handled with reciprocity (and choosing threat amplifier consoles as well as turning on threatening stance now). Damage control engineers let you use only 1 copy of emergency powers, but are chance based, so you will have gaps in emergency power to weapons. Energy weapons officers provide stacking +crit and +crit severity buffs from weapon procs; typical advice seems to be 1 blue +crit and 2 blue +severity.

Can't see the haters.
After a few tries CSR has finally managed to reset the ship costume on ground.

Of course, being unable to recognize this as something of their own doing, they decided to send me this parting threat, warning me not to be turned into a ship by customer support again or face "disciplinary action".

What's the best way to get decent boffs to replace the garbage ones the tutorial threw at me? Will I get more just progressing through the leveling process, or should I buy them from the auction house, or what?

I'm so glad uniform/bridge unlocks are account wide, so I can keep all the garbage I bought on my old main even though I started fresh. So now I'm a cool Cardassian lady running an Original Series reenactment society, I guess. Which uniforms are everyone else using? :v: I love how the game just throws character customization options at you.

Doff mission colonization chains at star clusters eventually give you repeatable purple doff missions. The facility 4028 chain lets you get dominion prisoners, which you can trade to the dominion for good doffs. Several other miscellaneous doff missions exist (see wiki). You also get some from levelling.

The best ones are easiest to get through the marketplace, and are super expensive for a new character, but just getting decent ones isn't that hard.

You will get a TON of 'emergency research holograms' early on, which you should execute as changeling infiltrators/ tal shair saboteurs / mutineers / insubordinates whenever the opportunity arises, because they're total garbage.

Oh, boffs? If you're not Romulan it really doesn't matter at all. If you are, getting all superior romulan operatives means you're slightly ahead but only the biggest dps :spergin: care about it.

You'll be getting a shitload of boffs through levelling and there are a bunch of boff-acquiring doff missions.

In short: far more important to pick boffs based on barbie dressup than stats.

The academy is also good place to fill your roster quickly. Walk around and you'll find several ambassadors from various races that will give you doff jobs that take a couple days to complete and you get a doff from. The jobs will return after a couple days too so you can repeat them.

edit: well nevermind then
