He exemplifies Russia's institutionalized racism and bigotry every time he talks about something other than ENB, and oftentimes when also talking about ENB.

Just finished the Deimos Quest Mod. It's... It's not good. Well, I guess it's technically well presented for the most part, but it has a rather glaring issue: From about the half-way point to the end, you have to run back and forth through an outside area that is hilariously irradiated. Like around 60 rads per second irradiated. This wouldn't be too bad except for the following: - The game is helpful enough to give you what it calls a Reinforced Radiation Suit. Sounds pretty great, right? The modder somehow removed it's rad protection entirely. So... it's worthless. - That's okay though, since you probably have another source of protection, right? Well, the mod starts under the Nipton Rest Stop, which is real drat close to the start of the game, so you probably don't have any anti-rad gear or items. - But surely the modder put plenty of rad-x/away throughout the mod, so you can just pop a few of those and be fine, right? Nope. No he didn't. - Okay, fine. But it's just a run there and back, right? No, it's a run there and back. And there and back. And there and back. And there and back.. Oh, and an escort quest to bring a robot from there, which if it gets destroyed, guess what? Fortunately, I was (initially) mildly cheating with the portable cheat terminal. I had a space suit, and the MF Hyperbreeder Alpha, so I had some rad protection and an infinite ammo weapon, huge boons for tackling this mod. When I realized I would need a couple of rad-away, I accidentally dumped about 70 into my inventory. No big, I figured, I'll just remove them later. I used them all. And had to go back for more. I sucked down over a hundred of the loving things. And that was with the max rad resist of 85% provided by my armor and Rad-X. The mod does give you an Operation Anchorage style reward of a bunch of weapons and a unique energy weapon, but ugh...

When I played DEIMOS a few years ago, that section actually broke bad enough that I had to delete that save. When I tried to escort the robot, its AI glitched and it would always walk to one random spot in the middle of the irradiated field and stop. Even when I intentionally killed it and went back for another one or reloaded the save to try again, it would walk right back there every single time. The mod was coded so poorly that it became unplayable and impossible to exit. That's on top of plenty of other bugs, like how in the pre-time travel outdoors section you could press a button to activate machinery with a crackling electricity sound effect. You could press the button multiple times and it would replay the sound (which is on an endless loop) until, theoretically, you could end up with an incredibly loud and annoying electric crackling sound overlapping itself forever.

gently caress that loving Robot. My second one, after successfully getting him in the bunker, turned around and walked his metal rear end back out, whereupon he was promptly killed by the newly respawned enemies. My third one got inside, and then just stopped moving in the middle of the hallway at the top of the stairs. He didn't move again until after I had physically shoved his model onto the stairs. About to work my way towards chapter one of Tales of the Burning Sands, I really hope it's better.

In other modquest news, Rebuilding the Bison Steve is pretty alright. It sends you all over the Mojave, it lasts for half the game, and you get to reduce the number of bombed out ruins.

It's okay, but the first time I played it I was planning to unlock the safe and get the unique Lucky pistol out....then remembered it was just gone with the entire old scene thanks to that quest. I mean, it is weird that gun isn't turned into a minor reward halfway through instead of that tweaked 10MM SMG. It would make more sense to me now.

Afterschool Special is a pretty decent "fix poo poo up" mod if I remember correctly. The way it's structured still requires you to explore further and further as you want to add more features, presumably to balance what it adds to keep you from getting a Lucky 38 level of safehouse after an hour of running around the starting area.

So, for various reasons I'm going to do a clean install of windows 10 on my desktop. For the base game, I know I can just copy the folders out of steamapps/common, but for MO and all my associated mods, can I just copy the MO folder or do I need to do something else? I really, really dont want to have to go through everything to re-set up tale of two wastelands.

I thought it was a nice touch for a mod that alters the worldspace of a fairly notable location.

Though I'm more happy that it's a collection of armor mods that aren't female-only and aren't skintight bodysuits or have gigantic holes to show off that delicious Type 3 cleavage. Edit: oh hey I have a question that I forgot to ask from a while back. I vaguely remembered someone posting an energy weapon pack here that fired actual beam projectiles instead of hitscan (I think) lasers, but whenever I searched 'energy' or 'beam' or 'laser' or anything to find it on the Nexus, I couldn't find exactly what I was looking for. Does anyone remember anything like that? Kumaton fucked around with this message at 02:35 on Apr 29, 2016 |

Agents are GO! posted:Mators Merge Plugins standalone works with New Vegas... Could probably use some folks contributing to the dictionary report thing though considering how laughably sparse it is. No, I can't do it because... gently caress you is why. (also, I'm really lovely at writing reports and only merge a few tiny tweak mods anyway) At least it's not as bad as Mator Smash is right now for New Vegas, which has no premade settings or documentation at all for anything other than Skyrim, and you basically have to be fluent in Gamebryo records to figure out how to set things.

Hopefully someone can point me in the right direction towards fixing my problem. The problem being that when I launch New Vegas, even though Steam says I'm in-game, and the New Vegas processes are running in the task manager, nothing actually loads up or appears on screen, it's just my desktop. It's as if I never even launched the game. I don't have any error messages, or crashes, or anything weird in any of my log files--everything seems to initialize and boot up just as it should. I installed Y.U.P., JSawyer.esp Ultimate Edition, and New Vegas Reborn, and then I began following This Guide up until the first break point telling you to test the game. I didn't install any of the Gopher's Advanced Recon bullshit nor most of the UI mods, but otherwise the guide was followed to a T up through the UI mods section... Here is my load order. quote:FalloutNV.esm Any insight would be greatly appreciated. I've got the itch to play this again for the first time in about two or three years and I don't wanna let this ruin that.

Are you running the default executable or the NVSE loader? IIRC, you need to run the loader at least once to make your ini files.

Agents are GO! posted:Are you running the default executable or the NVSE loader? IIRC, you need to run the loader at least once to make your ini files. Yeah, I'm using the NVSE 4GB launcher, although I had launched New Vegas successfully with the regular nvse_loader before I had installed any mods. Even so, I'm having the same issue if I try to launch through the regular nvse_loader versus the 4GB one.

I don't mean even the 4gb loader or the NVSE loader, I mean the launcher that ships with the game.

Upmarket Mango posted:Any insight would be greatly appreciated. If that isn't the case, check the SteamAppID of your F:NV. Right-click on New Vegas in your Steam library, go to properties and place a shortcut on your desktop. Then right-click on that desktop-shortcut and see what SteamAppID it launches. It should be 22380. If it isn't, then you have a different version of the game then the 4GB launcher is expecting. Create a shortcut to fnv4gb.exe. Go the shortcut's properties and add the game's ID to it, like so: "<path to where you installed the game\fnv4gb.exe" -SteamAppID ##### Replace the ##### with your FNV's SteamAppID . I'm not sure if the updated version of the 4GB launcher requires this, but if you installed New Vegas outside of the Steam folder, you may also need to point 4GB to where FalloutNV.exe is located. For example if you installed New Vegas to "D:\Games\Fallout New Vegas", the shortcut should look like this: "D:\Games\Fallout New Vegas\fnv4gb.exe" -exe "D:\Games\Fallout New Vegas\FalloutNV.exe" -SteamAppID ##### If all that doesn't work: Uninstall New Vegas. Delete NV's install folder. Delete the FalloutNV folder under the Documents/Games folder. Then install the game again. Before you do anything else, fire up the New Vegas launcher once (this will create some registry entries & .ini files). Now install the mods you want and test if the game works after each one.

I had been able to launch the game with the regular launcher before, so all the required files had been generated. I also tried the suggestions with the 4GB launcher and that didn't work. I had also disabled all my mods and tried launching the vanilla game but that wasn't working. So I sucked it up and deleted everything. I wanted to avoid this but I guess I got no choice. Thanks for the suggestions.

drkeiscool posted:Is it possible to modify the Gamebryo engine in FO:NV so that combat and basic movement don't feel like total poo poo? Probably, though it would take a lot of work. Skyrim isn't as far off from the FO3 Gamebryo as Bethesda would claim, and the animation modders over there have done some major movement revamps that make things feel more natural. I think it just comes down to time commitment and motivation, but I can see it being workable.

I recall there being some decent animation mods, and there's a poo poo ton of mods that change how damage scales, so mix and matching between the two should give you something workable.
