They begin again

Kvelertak chat: I didn't like the first single much but the second song has been in constant rotation for me. It's so good that I'll probably grab one of the shirt/vinyl/whatever packages. The new album is probably going to be Kvelertak's old sound + Boston + Thin Lizzy and if that's not rad as gently caress then throw me into the dad rock dumpster because it's where I want to be.

the new gojira tune would be coole riwthout the whammy in the main riff imo

I wasn't feeling that at all but the main slower thrashy riff kills and totally makes up for it.

And the mercy seat is awaiting,
And I think my head is burning,
And in a way I'm yearning,
To be done with all this measuring of proof.
An eye for an eye
And a tooth for a tooth,
And anyway I told the truth,
And I'm not afraid to die.
I first saw Kvelertak live, having never heard any of their music, and I just didn't get it. They played a track where they had four separate guitar solos in a row with each being done by a different guitarist and it was just too much and went nowhere.

Oozing machismo
If you've ever wondered what it might sound like if Tom Araya might sound like doing vocals for Celtic Frost, then this song/album is a fairly close approximation.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ecpizPXBE4A

Its also just a really good album of some rather obvious Celtic Frost worship in a Thrash/doom shell.

That definitely sounds like Tom Araya singing for Celtic Frost.

I quite like it and its growing on me. Agree with what others said that it doesn't have the ferocity that The Way of All Flesh had, goddamn is that album a beast. The drum pattern in this song is just so loving cool and I love how the opening just gets more and more intense.

This was embarrassing to watch, not only was the contestant poo poo, but Tarja was also poo poo. Her vibrato rarely works, but it certainly doesn't when she just randomly inserts it for certain words and completely ruins an already ruined song.

Yeah but I don't go around talking about brutal and ferocious Be'lakor/most melodeath is. Gojira has always been knock off Meshuggah riffs (but what prog metal isn't am I right?)

I mean poo poo I've been listening to a whole lot of Omnium Gatherum and Amorphis lately so, there's that.

I'm not really sure how I feel about this. I liked Of Breath and Bone but this seems too disjointed.

There are some amazing riffs ( 2:30 - 3:45 :swoon: ) but they are so short and interspersed with a complete cut/tempo drop back to acoustic/instrumental or something else entirely that doesn't feel connected in anyway. It's like I'm listening to an 8 minute song that is actually 8 different songs with 1 minute cut out of each and randomly placed throughout. Or maybe a better comparison would be an album teaser where it's a few minutes of various parts of different songs on the album mashed into one, that's exactly what this sounds like.

I've listened to this song 3 times in a row now to see if I just wasn't paying attention but it's just...I want to like it more than I do, it just jumps around too much and I lose interest.

Be'lakor, what have you done! Maybe this song is just a bad example.

Love the band photo - 4/5 guys staring at camera, 1 guy on the right "No I'm not interested".
