I've had this song stuck in my head for a couple days, playing it on repeat because I am autistic: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c7RUeMCZL3Q

I have so many feelings about this. For one, seeing a young Laura Jane Grace singing some earnest feelings and grievances with counterculture even before she trans'd. I love how like... this song seems like an almost sardonic look back at the political naivety of youth. While at the same time, i get the feeling she pines for the sort of genuinely radical politique that was missing from the leftist cliques of her own youth (and I kind of relate to that myself, having leftist cliques that didn't fully embrace who I am). It's such a beautiful, bittersweet rage song. I love it. <3

Just wanted to write words about this song, thanks, peace.

There's a really good interview with her on Marc Maron's podcast where she talks about the punk/political scene when she was growing up.

Huh, this was when I finally went off Against Me! after getting into them with As The Eternal Cowboy, they didn't seem as visceral anymore, kind of rote? Nothing with the energy of "Rice & Bread" or "Pints of Guinness Make You Strong" and Tom becoming Laura was actually a kind of trigger to a AM! throwback I feel.

Anyway, new Luca Brasi rules, catch melodic rock/punk https://lucabrasipunkrock.bandcamp.com/album/if-this-is-all-were-going-to-be

Pretty much everything except for Pummel is good. Pummel has a few really good songs, but the second half is forgettable. But it lead to Everything Sucks and Mass Nerder, so it was worth it. And Allroy's Revenge is my favorite Descendnets/ALL album, so :colbert:

And on a different note, I got to see Bob Mould with Ted Leo opening. Was pretty amazing, and got to see Jon Wurster sing a Ramones cover with Ted Leo on drums. The setlist was heavy on their last three albums and Copper Blue though. I wish they mixed in other Sugar and solo Bob stuff (Anything off of his Self Titled would have been really cool), but eh, I'll take what I can get.

I am! Feel free to shoot me a PM if you want to hang out :)

I think it's great that they're releasing a slightly slower album. Will probably help them have headlining sets that can go for longer than 25 minutes before the band and audience is totally exhausted, plus Mish's voice is just so good on these new tracks

I'm gonna pick up a copy at the release party in Brooklyn tomorrow, but Paradise seems to have struck a nerve with some people. They think that because every song isn't a two-minute rager where Mish screams through the whole thing, White Lung is no longer punk and they've become pop bullshit. The two songs that they released videos for are definitely different than their previous stuff, but come on, it's still drat good. I'll be there having a good time.

I love the arrangement and brevity of Apple cider I don't mind, the first few listens you're not even sure there's a chorus in there, energy is kept high from the sloshiest hi-hat line, then a sudden switch in beat to take the song home and it's over as soon as it began.
