I went to a bluegrass fest with the same kind of wristband, and managed to take it off after the event without any issue.

Just twist the end one way really tight, which creates a bolt-like thread in the fabric and then you can just unscrew the plastic bit with some effort and occasional re-twisting. :shrug:
