Congratulations on taking Singapore! What are typical Chungking defenses like? Would it be like trying to take Singapore all over again?

So--if I'm parsing Grey's strategy correctly--he's diverted more ground forces to pushing into China at the cost of delayed timetables for the DEI and Burma? Would a successful capture of Chongqing make up for the delays WRT Rangoon, Singapore, and Surabaya/the remaining DEI?

I think Singapore was the much bigger pull of manpower resources than Chungking is. If Singapore had fallen much earlier, those massive stacks of troops would be in Burma right now. But I'm super stoked that it finally fell, and even more stoked that we're on the way to Chungking!

It'd mean that he could pretty much seize all of China with the forces he's already got there, I think? Stopping Chinese respawns means it should (eventually) stop being a largely pointless manpower sink.

I think Chungking makes its own supply though, which will make it a bit tougher (unless there are so many guys there that they slurp it all up and it doesn't matter).

I suppose it depends on 1) How many supplies does Chungking make daily? 2) How many supplies does it take to support its existing troops? 3) Of its left over supplies, how many does it take to repair a disabled squad? 4) Assuming existing supplies, how quickly do disabled squads return to combat? I suspect that if was surrounded and cut off completely, you could still overrun whatever base regeneration comes from free supplies from the hex.

If I"m reading the game right (it's been awhile since I played), it looks like Chungking gets 400 supply per turn. Which isn't really very much considering the large number of dudes that are probably there.

Wow. Knocking out China in 1942 would be amazing for his long term prospects. That's would free up a tremendous amount of soldiers for invading India/digging in the Pacific. Notice that Grey has made basically no progress in Burma, and my guess is that this was the trade off he made.

Or more likely, are they build up units in serial? If the latter, is the hope that there won't be enough built up units to stop Grey's 100,000?

Minesweepers heading to Singapore run into motorboats fleeing Singapore. They exchange a few shells for appearance sakes, then head about their business. We take a crack at Port Moresby now our men have rested, but the enemy are too strong – reinforcements are needed. More bombs hit our forces at Luganville. We need to crack the forts here, so I begin the attacks. We are entering another quiet period, but at least Singapore is mine now. The carriers are one a short refuel trip to Balikpapan. Soon they can base out of Singapore and hopefully replace their torpedoes. Another damaged ship sinks.

Hmm, disruption(-) leaders(-) supply(-). "Rested." Your well-rested starving badly led forces are too disorganized to muster more than a "3" with their adjusted assault value. I would say more than reinforcements, what they really need is some sandwiches, some bullets, and a competent commander.

Oh thank god. What the hell are the escorts for this force doing? One of our roaming cruiser forces runs down some light cruisers. The engagement is not decisive but we come out on top. Bad weather stops the carriers from finding their targets. Mineclearing has begun at Singapore,so soon that great port will be flooded with ships and become a nice base for my attacks both north an south. Bloody B-17's.

Everytime I see the Maya in this game I always root for her to survive (even as an Allied player) just because that's the ship the main characters' dad was stationed on in Grave of the Fireflies And now I've ruined the mood of the thread.

Our Cruisers try a new tactic – they shout BOO! When the attack the allied ships – it seems to work for a while. Then a lucky torpedo strike takes out one of our destroyers. Only the Revenge is seen here, have we in fact sunk a battleship? Nope! There's the Resolution – These ships have to be on for a record for the number of hits survived! A more measured attack at Batavia has much more effect. A good day at Moleman as we destroy and enemy unit. One more we need units to move to their rightful places – the two Butais are heading to Singapore to try and get some torpedoes. I expect the two batteredships will have moved on by then – but they seem intent on absorbing my torpedoes. The mines have been cleared at Singapore, so its time to flood the area with ships – and supplies, as the battle had exhausted the Allied stockpile in the city. We captured plenty of fuel, but nothing for the troops.

The Seal makes two runs against one of our sweeping units. We make a raid on the airfield in Java, but trade one for one. We do a lot better against the ships docked in the harbour. The enemy forces at Batavia take heavy losses today. I swear I was never this lucky with the level bombers. Clunk! Mwah ha ha! We continue to hurt the Allies even on the quiet days. I hope this is true.

Hopefully they make it back home. Really weird RNG on battleships, both at Pearl and now with there having been torpedo hits. Are we sure everything is running right?
