It's worse than that, the FDL has an 8 ton tank.

If nothing else we can give Frontier credit for really swinging for the fences with a lot of these upgrades and special effects. Rails which use fuel could be interesting for ships with big module slots, but how much extra fuel do you need to equal 30+ shots per rail? Running back to a station to rearm/refuel is just as much trouble as running to a star to scoop (unless you're honor dueling thargoids out in the black), so increased total capacity is the only tangible benefit I'm seeing here.

Interesting thing about the heal beam we realized while testing with Harry--4 pipping your shields makes them 2.4x stronger, and thus requires 2.4x more dps to break because of increased resistance, NOT increased capacity. The healing beam heals your shields at a rate that is as if they have 0 pips to shields (pips do not cause you to resist healing). This means that the amount of HPS required to maintain a shield is significantly less (potentially 2.4x less) than the DPS required to break it, making people running the healing mod to their beam laser super effective since it has no downsides and automatically switches between healing/damage depending on if you target a friendly!

Frontier need to add people with anoraks and notebooks watching the ships go by in stations. Surprise Giraffe posted:Frontier need to add people with anoraks and notebooks watching the ships go by in stations. They're getting there, I think. If Planet Coaster is any indication, they can do a lot with crowds of people milling around and doing their own thing, using the same Cobra engine they built for Elite. Here's hoping! Anyway, cross-posting from the SC thread - Like a chump, I bought into the rest of the Horizons betas for $10, for the privilege of testing s game for them. And I loving love it So far the Engineers Update is pretty rad, and a much needed content boost for a game that began as "a mile wide and an inch deep". Now, the game has a "Build Your Own Millennial Falcon" aspect, where you seek out crazy-mad scientific types to turn perfectly good modules and weapons into own one-of-a-kind super-tuned monstrosities. Most Engineers specialize in two particular modules/weapons, but can tinker with some other parts as well. Trading and mining are now essential parts of upgrading your ship. You can gather "data" simply by scanning ships in supercruise, and there's finally a purpose for a frame-wake scanner. And, of course, you can get parts by blowing the gently caress out of other ships, or hanging around like a loving bone-picker. There are wrecks you can carve parts off of with a mining laser - scavenging is now a valid profession. Some of these ingredients go towards the actual part, the rest are favors for the Engineer. There's a random chance of parts you need dropping, but some special parts can be earned via missions or by tracking them down via leads from the commodity markets. Find the right system the special commodity is coming from, and you can just buy the loving things. There is a random element to whatever upgrade you are going for, which immediately caused min-maxers to panic. There's a tolerance of what gets improved, basically, and some upgrades have a chance of a side effect. This leads to such things as missiles that do no damage but cause a ship to spin out, multi-cannons that spew bullets of fire, railguns that pull "ammo" from your fuel tank instead of slugs (what?) and my favorite, beams that heal your allies shields and hurt your enemies. Yes, you can roll up a Paladin ship in Elite: Dangerous, Year of Our Lord 3302. Small ships can get a massive upgrade in the form of "Advanced Thrusters" that turn the loving things into tie-fighters. Flying a ship usually feels like flying a WWII era bomber where every move is slow and painful, like old people gently caress. ATs on the other hand, go pretty loving fast, allowing them to be used as interceptors, strike teams, and good old smuggling runs. Regardless, your ship will end up slowly tailored to your play style over time. Your relationship with an Engineer only has to be built up once, and as long as you feed them the parts, they'll work on any ship. They'll also tip you off to other Engineers in their network, so you can go track down another specialist. You will get invites from Engineers on your own, too, just by crossing various milestones like distance travelled or bounties claimed. Then you got to repeat the whole process over again. Good times! Naturally, it's so some dumb bullshit is always anticipated (some cases, misunderstood, like the random roll on parts). The simple fact you still can't store modules or cargo is loving terrible, because now this whole crafting thing depends on you juggling actual physical parts in your cargo hold (a limited transfer when you switch to or buy a ship with enough cargo space). Farming wakes and scanning ships does add a little depth (you are recording things like errant shield spikes or weird frame-shift emmissions, things really interesting to people in those fields, thus why it is an "ingredient") but here's where the random number generator tends to gently caress you over. You can only hold 100 datas, because the rest is apparently taken up by a galaxy map of 400,000,000 stars you need at all times because I really just got started tinkering with the Beta. Quicklike notes: - Bookmarks own, but need some kind of grouping system so you can save actual trade loops, not just a single list of bookmarks. - The radio chatter and the Traffic Controllers add a LOT to stations now. Your callsign (the manufacturer of your ship and the first three letters of your CMDR name, so me in an AspE is "Lakon Kilo Echo Romeo") comes off seamlessly, as well as your pad number. Even the automated controllers wish you well when you leave their airspace - Advance Thrusters own on an Imperial Courier, but any weight becomes your enemy. Even a slightly weighed down Courier can barrel-roll into a mailslot before a scan completes. I can't wait to try and make a smuggler's Adder - Missiles got a re-tweak, and size-2 dumbfires hold 60 ammo.

that's what I've been thinking. Viper/Courier setup with one or two beams and some Yongmart launchers for maximum distribution of module fuckery. Are the C1 Guided launchers still only coming with a 12 missile capacity? I saw that the dumbs had been uprated to a magazine of 60.

# ? May 10, 2016 15:22 |

Turns out that while you still can't fit ammo in your cargo hold, upgraded magazine capacity is a thing for at least multicannons. Just the tier-3 upgrade can easily boost your clip size and ammo reservoir by ~10%, at the cost of increased mass and power draw. The T5 upgrade goes of course way past that. Edit: I've also been rerolling it to see which kind of affixes you can get. So far I've seen Emissive Rounds, Smart Rounds and Incendiary rounds - smart rounds selfdestruct harmlessly before actually impacting friendly ships, if somebody gets in your line of fire. Edit edit, all upgrades cost now 1 ton of fish and it seems like the little roulette thing is rigged so you always get an affix of some description. Edit ^3, I've just had the devil's own luck so far apparently. Drake_263 fucked around with this message at 17:24 on May 10, 2016 |

So you wanna know a little more about these groups? Well, take it from Frontier Development's pundit! Achenar Immortals Coalition (https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showthread.php?t=249058&page=2&p=3870676&viewfull=1#post3870676) Our pundit says: Achernar Immortals have confirmed a coalition late in the process with a large number of groups pledging to the coalition. The coalition boasts the following members Jethro Sharpe (a lone Fed Commander), Guild of Rebuy Screenius Maximus, 13th Legion, Federal Reclamation CO, 160 S.O.A.R., Silver Skulls, Flying Tigers, EDC Vanguard, Vortex Continuum, Guardians of Tranquility & Smiling Dog Crew). Whilst vast in numbers these groups also hail from a very wide and diverse ethos and background. From notorious pirates, to Federation all in support of the Imperial immortals. With Elenar heading up the coalition and having access to large promotional channels these could certainly be a strong group for the wildcard position. But can they galvanise their community channels and their groups to one united cause? Black Birds Squadron (https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showthread.php?t=249058&p=3870518&viewfull=1#post3870518) Our pundit says: The Black Birds Squadron are a group that have received less public discussion than other groups in the Wildcard. However, these guys could easily be a very strong force in the wildcard games. While the Black Bird Squadron are competing as themselves, they could pull support from the French Coalition which they are in. This coalition was involved in one of the Educating Eds and contains a number of prominent French groups. What’s more, they are also heavily involved in a number of French community sites and have a strong outreach in that community. As the only French group, this could prove to be a difficult group to beat. The Imperial Inquisition Our pundit says: Famous for their hunter games and other events. This group have proven their ability to pull groups to their side and compete in vast numbers through CGs in the past. With this and their streaming community this imperial bunch are certainly a group of sizable force! Battle Vortex (https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showthread.php?t=249058&page=3&p=3872133&viewfull=1#post3872133) Our pundit says: Battle Vortex are an extensive gaming community. With sizable channels on YouTube and Twitch, they could well be a surprise in this competition if they can get their Commanders rallying for their cause! Planet Express Our pundit says: A smaller group of Commanders and believed to be more Xbox leaning but present on both platforms. It will be really great to find out more about this group’s ethos and background in the competition through their political campaign. Adle's Armada Coalition (https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showthread.php?t=249058&p=3870483&viewfull=1#post3870483) Our pundit says: A truly dangerous threat. Adles Armada alone are one of the more known and recognised groups in the wildcard race. Not only that but they also have a formidable coalition in place with some very dedicated and formidable groups. In the Diamond Frogs Educating Ed episode we saw some clear tensions between Adle’s Armada and the Diamond Frogs so we’re expecting some exciting developments from this group as the competition progresses. Black Omega (https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showthread.php?t=249058&p=3870465&viewfull=1#post3870465) Our pundit says: another of the less publically discussed groups in these competitions. An independent aligned group who we’ll be looking forward to hearing more from as their campaign develops. EG Pilots (https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showthread.php?t=249058&p=3870479&viewfull=1#post3870479) Our pundit says: A dedicated Russian group. The EG pilots (not to be confused with Emperor’s Grace) could surprise a few people if they can get enough support from their communities. Perhaps one that the English speaking Community might not be aware of but certainly not one to take lightly. Wolves of Jonai Our pundit says: Headed up by well-known YouTuber ChaosWulff, This Commander has the group, platform and size of followers to be a threat in the votes, depending on how active and persuasive his campaign is. United German Commanders Coalition (https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showthread.php?t=249058&p=3870507&viewfull=1#post3870507) Our pundit says: United German Commanders are working alongside the Blood Brothers from Alrai which represent a considerable German contingent. It will be interesting to see the development of this campaign as we head into the votes. Pileus Libertas (https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showthread.php?t=249058&page=2&p=3871285&viewfull=1#post3871285) Our pundit says: Some may consider this group relatively small, but this imperial group, rich in history are very passionate and dedicated. Could they be a possible surprise in the votes? Again, we will be eager to see their campaigns unfold over this week. So now you ask, "Why is this important?". To now I answer, because the top five pledges will eventually compete in CGs to determine which one of them will rise to be the sixth potential candidate and then finally compete with the other top 5 groups/Coalitions to become the next Power. Rise to Power
