I'm a pretty big One Piece fan, and that is the first I had heard of Boku no Hero Academia. To me, it seems pretty easy to believe Kohei was a One Piece fan too (Judging by the volume of ugly crying faces alone), and it seems to share a lot of the dramatic themes/morality. I've never been big on super heroes, so most of the promotional art sort of turned me off. I caught a promo commercial thing in a Kinokuniya and went "oh hey, I should check this out." I couldn't wait for the anime, so here I am. I gotta say, BnHA has to be one of the best technically put together manga I've read in a long time. It flows super easy, and the plot moves fast. The art is stellar, too. I read and consumed the entire thing in a bubble, so I have no idea what the 'fan opinions' are on the series and characters.

Tsuyu will likely never have a training or possibly major character development arc because a big part of her characterization so far is just that she's super stable and competent and that's cool. Her apparent lack of major personal struggles or crises is a great foil to the Todorokis, Dekus, and Yaoyorozus and really most everyone in the story. Basically I'm saying she's a good team mom.

Bakugou is a poo poo but he's the best poo poo. Hagakure is a walking visual gag and she's the best even if we've never seen her actually do anything. Todoroki is fujoshi bait but he's the best anyway. Tokoyami is a total bro in spite of being named like an edgelord and having a very scary power so he's the best. Ashido wanted to wear a Xenomorph costume and call herself Alien Queen, she's the best too. Basically all the characters are the best. I hope you found this informative.

I think the best thing about Bakugo is that his edgelordness is so off the charts, it makes other would-be edgelord characters go "Yeah maybe I'll just tone it down a bit."

Joking aside, Shigaraki's apparent need to have those hands on him at all times, particularly his father's, actually does make invisibility a poor choice for him. Hagakure doesn't make her clothes invisible, and Shigaraki's issues seem like they would prevent him from using the power effectively since it'd require him to leave the hands (and also his clothes; something about him makes me think he'd take that poorly too) behind.

Kouji's mother also looks like a rock-person, and he has a quirk that's not directly related / connected to his physical appearance. Similarly, Tsuyu's parents and siblings also look frog-like, and it's not clear whether they all have frog-like quirks like she does. I wonder if Hagakure's family are similarly also all invisible people and what is the quirk she has that is not necessarily related to invisibility.
