I love you Dirt Rally, why you gotta hurt me like this?

If it makes you feel better, I did a barrel roll mid race and added at least 30 seconds to my time in the last few sections of the final event because I literally flew into the crowd at that random left turn that is way sharper than your bro makes it seem.

The week before I accidentally got locked out completely by crashing the E30. Dirty Goon league is my go-to race when its 3:30AM and I'm high as hell so I doubt any of my times will be anything spectacular but this game is still fun as heck just even making it to the finish line. :350:

Some of those signs are at such a perfect angle that when you come flying wide out the exit of the turn you will drift parallel to them before pulling yourself back onto the road just inches from breaking your back bumper off.

I only managed one barrel roll, and I didn't even have to reset. I'm probably last place in style points by now :(

This is a RALLY game though so imo not resetting at the cost of times are as stylin' as it gets :snoop:

I have yet to finish an entire event without at the very least a busted windshield.

Did that random Russian not-even-a-goon finally gently caress off or get kicked? So many first places robbed by some random Russian with like 1000+ hours in the game. :smith:

I should really get back into Dirt Rally a bit, still never played post-Sweden and sounds like they've added some fun new cars and whatnot.

I'm really loving the Alpine 110, it's slippery enough to drift easily but still grips enough to maintain control.

Did this one this morning and while it wasn't a perfect run it's pretty good and I thought it would be cool to have the interior view and the "cinematic" side by side.

Keep in mind I have almost zero experience with video editing software so if I hosed something up feel free to point it out so I get better.

For the next goon league, I suggest making it either all classic 2WD or all modern 4WD.

If we do modern 4WD, I'd put in everything from Group A to R4 to latest WRC machines to it. The playing field would be a lot more even and people who don't have the high-end cars can drive R4s as the cheap option.

Does anyone want to recommend a stand/mount for a wheel? table and chair aint cuttiing as the G920 brake pedal needs way too much force and ends up sliding on my floorboards, plus need some adjustability to get my seating right.

I had a wheelstand pro for my 360 but wasnt super impressed with the centre pole.

Yeah GT Omegas are good cockpits for the price, Playseat do good stuff as well.

E: New patch is coming next month, fixes for the rallycross FFB issues, more AI improvements and other bug fixes. There's also teases of new content coming, and Oculus support is being worked on as well.

The thing about Sweden that always gets me is the transition from slushy / greasy melted snow to hard packed snow. It's always more abrupt that I realize and I often overshoot corners because of it.

According to the guy who made this car guide (who also made Asphalt/Gravel presets for every car):

quote:

In Monte Carlo I've been using the same asphalt setup as in Germany since day one. As for Sweden I still have very limited experience, but what little time I'd spent there the gravel setup worked quite well. Compressed snow feels very similar to medium gravel when it comes to handling. I'm sure you'll find some great snow setups in the Workshop posted by other members.

I've been using his presets and they feel good, for Sweden, but it still feels really... twitchy to drive there. I was driving the E30 (RWD, which may not have been helping) and I was having trouble driving on a straight line; any minor corrections would put me into a left-right loop until I end up eating snowbank, and as soon as you even look at their direction you'll end up spinning and looking the wrong way. :(

For myself at least I drove totally different in Sweden than anywhere else. I'll have to try my gravel setups there to see but I tend to use a lot of oversteer on gravel and that doesn't work for Sweden.

Much of the track is barely wider than your car so putting your rear end out around a corner just makes it hit the snowbank.

I tend to lower my differential and/or put more power to the front end coupled with tuning my early gears higher so I'm putting less power down and maintain more grip.

I'm no Pro though so YMMV.

Also I did another Vid of the Alpine a110 for no reason in particular other than really liking the car.

Now that I feel a bit more familiar with the editor I'll start doing more interesting things with it, though I do kinda like having both views side by side it's a bit limiting.

The Fiat is probably the best balanced RWD car. The Alpine is fun as hell and makes the best replays though, rear end out everywhere.

Did the Dirt Daily and I made it up Pikes Peak without losing a tire(or the spoiler) finally. Progress! Though 9:57.9 isn't the most exiting time I'm OK with it.

On that same note I love the Peugeot 205 but the turbo lag is abysmal and I don't have a clutch to try and keep the revs up :(
