See, you say this, but I don't think that's actually the people who really care about this poo poo. I mean some do I guess, but most nerds I know who invest heavily in reading comics actually seem pretty chill about changes in film or clever takes. I hear more complaints from the casual fans. There is this sort of culture of wikipedia that I think has formed over the years, especially since the Marvel movies. The internet is more than willing to tell you the mythology of those characters without actually reading. And I think when you don't actually experience comics and just how fluid their reality is, watching a list video can make that character's story seem more concrete than it really is. I mean, hell, we see it in these threads.

My sister who doesn't read comics was very adamant that Gwen Stacy should die because literally that's all she knows about Gwen Stacy. It's like the fourth thing you learn about Spider-Man. But honestly I couldn't care less. Killing Gwen was bold and shocking when Gerry Conway did it, but ti's just a creepy trope now. Gwen Stacy never has to die again.

They tried that in the comics and Peter Parker died instead, apparently we can have one or the other but not both without crazy dimension hopping shenanigans.

E: I'm just now learning there are some wildly different designs for the Mandarin out there and now I'm a little disappointed, at least I understand now why the thread preferred Kingsley so much

Harley Quinn Movie in the Works at Warner Bros. With Margot Robbie (Exclusive)

In an interesting twist, the project is not a Quinn solo movie. Rather, it would focus on several of DC’s female heroes and villains, with names such as Batgirl and Birds of Prey surfacing.

Months ahead of the opening of Suicide Squad, Warner Bros. is already contemplating a spinoff for the DC Entertainment anti-heroine, Harley Quinn.

Margot Robbie, who stars as the villainess in Suicide Squad, is attached to reprise the character and would also produce the untitled spinoff, The Hollywood Reporter has learned.

But in an interesting twist, the project is not a Quinn solo movie. Rather, it would focus on several of DC’s female heroes and villains.

Details are being closely guarded but names such as Batgirl and Birds of Prey have surfaced, although in what capacity, it’s not clear. Warner Bros. isn’t commenting.

There is also a scribe penning the script but those details, too, are being kept secret, although it is known that the writer is female.

DC has a very strong stable of heroines and villainesses and has been focusing on those characters with the rise of its female readership and fanbase. It recently introduced DC SuperHero Girls, a line of comics and products targeting the young female demographic. The characters getting the spotlight include Quinn, Batgirl, Batman villainess Poison Ivy, Katana (Quinn’s fellow member of the Suicide Squad) and Bumblebee, who can fly and shrink.

Sources say that Robbie was the impetus for the project, adding that when she got the part for the movie, she dove deep into the comics to learn as much as possible on the character. In the process, she fell for DC’s female characters. She brought on the writer to help develop the project and brought it to Warners, which snapped it up.

I haven't followed Harley Quinn outside of BTAS, but I'm all for more women characters getting standalone movies. Curious as to who the writer is, though. Harley Quinn definitely has enough cache for a standalone movie so it would be a smart play.

X3 and ASM2 were sequels to fairly good movies, so the initial "hey, nerd friend, should I see this?" word of mouth was probably "gently caress YES DO IT." ASM2 still underperformed compared to what Sony expected, by all accounts.

Nah, there is just a rule that Peter has to die in What If stories.

Regarding X-men, Sinister makes a whole lot of sense as a stand-in for the Hellfire Club if not the actual head of the Hellfire Club.

In January 1961, President Kennedy commissioned the construction of an underground bunker deep beneath the White House's living quarters, to be used to house his brother Robert F.
