This is the "whatever-core" thread. The second half of all these styles of music is usually "core" for "hardcore." Hardcore is an offshoot of Punk which has always been about rebellion and lifestyle. Sick jams are sick jams but you should give a poo poo about what a band is preaching or what they stand for. I couldn't be bothered to listen to that Nickelback looking guy talk about homosexuality, but if he thinks it's wrong, or if he thinks people need to be converted, then gently caress him and his music. I've had so many friends tell me about the new Despised Icon the last few days. I've never been into them, and this song hasn't changed my mind. Fine - I watched the whole thing, even though I didn't even listen to their music because whatever. The message seems to be this: Gay people aren't bad and you should love them (and everyone) - however, it's still wrong according to the bible and they're still going to hell. It's obviously a much better stance than some of the more extreme ways conservatives view homosexuality, so that's a good thing, but every preachy Christian has their own interpretation of "god's rules" and whatever so it's all meaningless to me.

Despised Icon aren't a religious band and have no beefs with the gay community that I know of. If I had to guess (I'm 100% not looking for or watching the video) I'd say For Today.

Art Far Away just released the first single off their upcoming (final) EP. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M7iY9k1tRjc The entire EP is more groove driven than their LP, which was full of insane riffs, but it's loving great. Rabbit's Hole is my favorite track on the EP, but I'm sure not everyone will love it, since it features a lot of vocoder, so I was a bit surprised that it got chosen as the first single. Give it a spin and see what you think!

I got an email yesterday saying that Architects have canceled their North American tour due to a family emergency.  On the other hand, Misery Signals is playing a mini-tour and I'm seeing them for the first time next month. I suppose that'll make up for it!
