The Glumslinger posted:So I'm seriously not trying to be a dick, but I haven't really paid attention to Eve since the current war started. I took a look at a sov map and it seems like Imperium got hosed up pretty badly. Is that a decent summary of what happened or are things not quite as dire as they seem? Yes. They got outnumbered by a lot of people who decided it was time to try and push them out of the north and were, surprising to most, successful at it. 2 alliances left the Imperium (Circle of Two who left after the first initial big battle in what some called a "betrayal", and Fidelas Constans who left later on). SpaceMonkeys Alliance also left Null after half their leadership walked out, and they're in Outer Ring right now. Razor & Initiative are in Syndicate doing things and I think I heard they took a system or two in nearby Null but nothing really notable beyond that. The Glumslinger posted:Thanks for the quick update You'll never get a clear answer on the first question because depending on who you talk to a lot of things went wrong at a lot of different points. Namely CFC/Imperium stated they weren't going to try and fight back early on, then did try and fight back, but then said it wasn't serious etc. There was also a lot of talk about a "brain drain" where a bunch of people who either quit the game entirely, or left GSF/CFC/Imperium ended up in the Money Badger Coalition (aka the attackers in this war). That's another thing you'll never really get a clear answer on since people argue about the most minute points about that stuff that it just makes a bunch of white noise. The Glumslinger posted:Thanks for the quick update List of things that hurt us in this war compared to the last few in no particular order: Not having a real fight in over a year meant a lot of our good, active PVP corps/pilots either left or won EVE. Small list of notables - BAT Country, BOS, SUAS, Vily, Mister Vee. PL created a newbie alliance that has hoovered up over 9000 pilots and helps them on strategic objectives. The new sov system makes it significantly easier to take sov. SMA pissed off an eve casino, which resulted in nearly every group that was even technically available for merc work getting sent against them. We tried to ransom a lot of moons in lowsec, which resulted in most/all of the notable lowsec alliance banding against us. Probably some other stuff that I'm forgetting.

Landsknecht posted:what's the isk/hour on 0.0 npc pirate missions? is it anything close to l5s? Hard to answer, because it heavily fluctuates with supply and demand. i.e. Mordus missions were jawdroppingly lucrative when theta initially started rushing them, and then dropped as the market flooded and the novelty of new ships wore off. Similar for SOE when the Stratios was released. One thing's for certain: it's nowhere close to competent lv5s, assuming you're selecting only the good lv5s and blitzing them in carriers. And lv5s, in turn, pale compared to highsec incursions. ullerrm fucked around with this message at 05:37 on May 22, 2016 |

Shimrra Jamaane posted:Also the current Sov system makes defending essentially impossible. I wouldn't say that the current sov system is impossible, but what it does result in is a concentration of operations. If you want to have sov and defend sov you have to be using the space you're in. If you aren't using the space your sov will begin to thin out and become vulnerable in places. It encourages people to treat Nullspace the same way (gasp) Provibloc treats their space, as an extension of hisec. You wanna see some crazy ADMs, take a look at the ADMs in Providence.

GemCo vs Vanguard showed that you could defend your sov under Aegis sov mechanics. That's just an example off the top of my head since they ended up in a stalemate against one another that led to them forming DRF, among other incentives to do so. Also see: Horde vs SMA in Cloud Ring, most of those systems were border systems being fought over but Horde's other systems got hit and were successfully defended several times. Again, another example off the top of my head. Jbz posted:Stop ruining the good thread. Ty God bles I think most of whats been said so far is fairly chill. That said, with the politics thread shut down and the topic of discussion being about Aegis sov where one side loudly says its broken and bad because they're losing sov, I wouldn't be surprised some people start to act out their grievances here. Good thing VG told them they'd get banned for that.

LemonDrizzle posted:Huh? Neither of those is really true. Highsec incursions with a good group pay something like 150-200m/hr. L5s are way more lucrative than that for individual pilots (Incursions are done by far more people, so they have a bigger overall effect on the game) - the amount you can make per hour and the length of time you can spend running per day depends on how much you've invested into your setup (particularly, how many pulling alts you've bought or made), but 300m/hr is a safe minimum for a basic setup and it can be substantially higher. Pirate mission blitzing varies by region and politics but once you have high enough faction standing to farm burners, you can make around 300-400m/hr if you can move around the area where the agents are with relative freedom. Obviously, if the mission constellation is full of angry hostiles camping the gates, you'll have a harder time of things. Risk vs reward, really. Lv5s require exposing substantial assets to PvPers; highsec incursions involve relatively little risk, as long as you run with an established group like WTM, and the isk is immense relative to the risk.

I had carriers in 5 systems near Amamake. The recent increase in FW activity there forced me out though and I moved. While the locals can't kill you they can certainly frustrate you enough that your isk/hr or isk/effort goes down the toilet. Even this relatively simple setup in active FW space gave me between 300 to 400m/hour. You can dualbox carriers for extra money, but on the other hand the lp markets look like they are taking a nosedive. Possibly because everyone and their brother is looking at lvl 5s.
