Not that goons care about this, but after eating poo poo for 5 casual matches I finally won both my first round and my first Bo3 against another player. It felt... alright. Wasn't as rewarding as I had thought it would be, unfortunately.

It's really hard remembering to do the combos instead of just a regular normal because I feel like it's just safer to try to throw out a button and whiff it rather than risk throwing out a combo and whiffing that.

Also it really sucks because I feel like Ryu's cr.MK doesn't reach aa far as everyone else's poke in this game, so I'm always getting outranged by peoples' normals all the time. I feel like I get better results poking with Ryu's cr.MP instead.

The range on Ryu's cr. mk is in line with most of the rest of the cast. If you feel you're getting outranged, you're probably getting whiff punished, because that particular button extends a whiff punish hurt box.

You dont just throw a combo out. You start the combo and check if they are blocking before you special cancel. If they are blocking you try to end in a frame trap or mix up to land a hit or just go for a safe move that pushes them out of punish range and resets the momentum.

You'll still have 1 frame to react to Nash's dash, even if you play offline.

EDIT: Hah, I just used the word "react" in the context of SFV.

Don't you chucklefucks understand what "Hard Reads and Commitment" means? This is a truly skilled game of streetfighter where you win almost entirely on yomi (japanese for reading the mind of the opponent) instead of just mashing OS and safe strings/setplay like a scrub.

The game is designed around this, much like how daikatana was designed to be an expert-only FPS

You are referring to hit-confirm combos. Not every combo has enough normals to determine if they are blocking or not. You use those combos to "punish" your opponents moves. You don't have to wait to see if they are blocking because you just blocked a move that is -50 on block. :hehe:

It's pretty amazing that they declined the opportunity to talk about their next dlc character, show a trailer for story mode, do anything to really hype up the game at all during one of their main pro tour events.

I know they didn't do that at the others as well, but it still seems like they should be learning their lesson at this point! It's amazing how little they seem to have learned from this experience. I do think it's pretty hilarious though that their CEO made a specific announcement about realizing that they should finish making their games rather than releasing them specifically for fiscal targets.

In other news with twelve hours of jet lag and only two days practice in a month i was able to go 2-2 at Toryuken against players that at least knew what they were doing. It's good to have your improvement at the game validated like that. Now if only I didn't constantly make mistakes maybe I could get a positive record for once!

Same and it makes me so sad. I've always been a casual turd with the ability of a ballsack but Street Fighter has been important for so long and I can't believe they managed to let me down this much. It really blows. I hope they turn it around but we'll see.

Same here.
Street Fighter has always been the game that emphasized the things that I liked about fighting games but drat, SFV sure is a pile of turds.

I haven't touched it for a while now and I have no desire to even fire it up until they AT LEAST do something about input lag. That totally gives my playstyle a huge disadvantage.
I'll stick with SF4, there are like a dozen EU people still playing it but that's good enough. Even though SF4 is nowhere near perfect, at least it's is more fun than SFV garbage.

I can't believe how hard capcom keeps dropping the ball on this game, lots of people reeeally want it to succeed but it seems like they are doing their very best to stop that or communicate with players in any way. I don't even have the input lag problem and I still can't bother practicing knowing that my opponents are hamstrung because of a stupid v-sync issue. Overwatch is coming out so I think I'm just done with fighting games for now. I can't stand KI visually and GG is only played by spergs so screw it, I guess I'm done with fightgames until they manage to actually finish and polish this game. Why would I put effort into practicing a game that the dev doesn't even seem to care about?

I feel SF5 is p dead. I assume I'll try it at the end of each month, maybe 5 - 6 matches with the new char and set it aside.

Definitely needs some singleplayer content that isnt terrible Survival mode. I thought it wasnt an issue at first, but the lack of sp content is incredibly shallow.

Gonna check out Percolator or whatever its called when it comes out on PC. If SF5 did anything, it made me want to play fighting games

It's still popular and will probably have a huge showing at Evo so no, most likely. But it's kinda crazy there's still no money shop and I bet that story patch gets delayed at some point. Capcom saying their new focus is on Quality instead of deadlines makes me think they were softening people up before saying they need to go back to the drawing board on the SFV stuff.

most people have straight forgotten it. it isn't even in the steam top 100 any more despite some really old/niche games being in there. best hope now is that the game is in a more respectable state by EVO-time (lol) and will be buoyed by some exposure there.
