Trapezium Dave posted:Regarding the Senate election, is there a reason why the parties aren't running more than six candidates for most states? In Victoria for example no-one is running more than the usual six, even though all twelve are up. Is that just realism that no-one is going to get more half? Usually I don't have to bother learning much about the candidates at the tail end of the ticket. Doesn't seem like they would gain much. More chance of mixed messages or a candidate making a gaffe.

Starshark posted:What does Chris Berg have to say about the Greens over on the Drum? Actually he's threatened by the Greens idea of benefit corporations, arguing that even lefties agree with his stance that it would encourage corporations to opt-out of the social responsibility side of the model. Of course Berg doesn't actually believe in social responsibility at all, so this article is a great example of how libertarians love to argue in bad faith. Woof woof. I'm divided over its actual usefulness other than to shine a spotlight on corporations who presumably have to declare what side they're on, I doubt it would actually change behaviour, but it's worth it just to see IPA asshats make specious arguments about it while avoiding their true opinions on the matter.
