Rain is a core feature in racing, where the series allow races in rain.

Because it adds a certain thrill of being able to drive those conditions and not risk life and limb in the process? Dynamic weather also, at least for endurance races, is kind of neat because it can add pit strategy to the mix where you're trying to plan your pit around the weather showing up.*

Not even endurance, it adds strategy thinking to short races where there'd otherwise be none. I did some Ginetta Junior races in PCars a while back and being 10 minutes into a 20 minute race and having done my mandatory stop when it started raining forced me into thinking about whether it would be worth it to try and keep it together on slicks or go back in for wets. It's one of the things rFactor 2 does really well with the dynamic track creating a dry groove which you can run slicks on, but increases the risk if you're going off-line onto the wet track for overtakes. I hope to see more people push for it as more games get dynamic tracks.

Our races are so short, at 100% tire and fuel is a non-issue, and I'm trying to find a value where a 1-stop strategy might have some use. The problem is I'd have to run a hundred laps per car to find a really good value, so 200% is just an experiment. But since we're going to stay in the Toyota for a while, maybe I can adjust it according to feedback between races.

Apologies for mumble hiccup, haven't used it in a few months but I promise I'm not a lady who's entire vocabulary is limited to 'trial software' or something. I don't even know what trial software she was talking about..? Might have been pointed at voicemeeter input somehow but I had that closed, so maybe she was angry. Didn't think to check on it after I put the headset on :v:

Good race though, even if I scrubbed it up good compared to my qualifying/practice, but first time going wheel to wheel in VR was absolutely epic :toot:

I think the US is dumb for not using Celsius
For anyone interested in doing Assetto Corsa in VR, I highly suggest using Virtual Desktop (I don't know if big screen works the same way in this case, but give it a try as it's free). Put your Rift on and launch Virtual Desktop. Open up assetto corsa and go through the menus like normal. When you go to drive, the rift will automatically switch to running AC in VR. When you quit out back to the menu, it will automatically load back into Virtual Desktop. If you get a black screen, press the oculus button twice on the remote.

Started looking for tracks for the AE86, trying to stay under 2 km (1.25 miles) otherwise people just get lost in the wide expanses. If participation takes up we can switch some longer tracks in, particularly that Suzuka that was linked earlier because it's good.

Kunos:
Vallelunga Club
Magione
Brands Hatch Indy

Mods:
Mills Metro Short
Baskerville
Autodromo Geraldo Backer
Hero Shinoi Circuit (this one I could do with opinions on because I can't decide if it's terrible or not)
Miseluk (a bit long, but is a public street track which I like)

I didn't spend much time trying to use virtual desktop with my dk2 and AC, it didn't work like this for me though. Any idea what the double oculus button push is doing, since I don't have that? Perhaps the same as double xbox one button press?

Also, Assetto Corsa runs way better than Project Cars in VR. Using the Oculus Debug Utility allows you to increase the rendering pixels to make it look easy better too.

Yeah, the Oculus button is the same as the xbox one home button.

Actually the latest AC updated added an option in oculus.ini in the cfg folder to force render res without having to use the debug tool.

Really makes a difference though, huh? :) Even just oculus home looks better.

When was this? Was it a long time ago before Oculus Home came out? I'm not entirely sure why it works this way but I'm glad it does. Pressing the Oculus home button (or the xbox button on an xbox controller) just brings up the Oculus menu that allows you to exit to Home, bring up the IPD adjustment guide and reset the tracking center. Pressing it again goes back to Virtual Desktop and fixes whatever bug it was that caused it to go back to a black screen.

Hey so gsync is amazing. Got myself a 1440p 144hz monitor with Nvidia magic. poo poo is incredible and has breathed new life into my gtx 970. Pcars and Dirt Rally play anywhere between 45-70 fps without any downside. All of it is incredibly smooth.

Good upgrade. Almost like going from HDD to SSD.

Okay, that makes sense since it seemed to begin loading and then quit back to the "desktop". I've only been using my DK2 for racing sims, haven't finished Chronos. And I don't ever use an xbox controller when racing.

Due to upcoming schedule changes, I might be able to join in some goon races on Sundays. Anything is better than the a.i. in Assetto Corsa. Don't even think about racing cars with the same model as your own, they will ride right into you until you lose enough time that an overtake won't happen.
