I saw it on TV about a year ago, and I guess the previous time I saw it, I didn't know what a stripper was, because Will Smith's wife was a stripper in that movie.

The best part of that is how she's a stripper has absolutely nothing to do with anything in the movie.

It mattered because Steven Hiller wanted to be an astronaut really bad, but he couldn't do that with a stripper wife!

It's worse than that. Everybody is gearing up for a flight mission to fight the thousands of ships carrying millions of aliens that are currently destroying the planet. Most major cities in the world are gone. All the characters are hiding out in Area 51, where another alien just killed Data from Star Trek. And yet everyone still scoffs at Randy Quaid for suggesting that he saw aliens once a few years ago.

These aliens don't seem interested in our buttholes, though.

BBC Radio did a spinoff of Independence Day called Independence Day UK which begins as a parody of the War of the Worlds broadcast with Patrick Moore commenting on the alien arrival, and the second part is about the British pilots briefly seen in the movie. Peter Serafinowicz does one of the voices. I always listen to it on July 4.

The Logan's Run remake is apparently still on with a newly announced screenwriter. Although he's supposed to be working off a previous treatment that was turned in during the period in which Bryan Singer was supposed to be directing it. Supposedly this version is going to hew closer to the original novel which had the crystal going off at 21 and not 30.

If you think that, along the way, you're not going to fail... you're blind.

There's no one I've ever met, no matter how successful they are, who hasn't said they had their failures along the way.

Oh good, another movie of late-teen/early-20s actors struggling against unfair societal systems through direct violence. I look forward to the intensely bland white people with no chemistry cast as romantic leads.

Logan's Run is still being produced by Simon Kinberg, who turns everything he touches to garbage, and Joel Silver, who hasn't been relevant since the 90s.

Is Ryan Gosling still attached?

Although I guess they could always make him the old guy they find on the surface.

Gosling was only attached when it was a Nicolas Winding Refn joint. That was like 2 or 3 iterations ago.
